For the first time ever, Greenday’s so-called alter ego band, the Foxboro Hot Tubs, is set to hit the road. Starting next Monday, May 19th, the band is going on tour by kicking off in Little Rock, Arkansas. They will only have an 8 day trek and tickets will only be sold at the venue’s box office on the day of the show. Tickets are worth $20 and it’s cash only. The band’s single ‘Stop Drop and Roll’ from their new album ‘Mother Mary’ has peaked at the #16 spot on the Billboard’s Modern Rock Chart. The single will go on sale on May 20th.

Unless you count the Jonas Brothers, The Click Five and the reunited New Kids on the Block, I highly doubt that the boy band phenomenon will be coming back soon. And former LFO member Rich Cronin seems to know that as he is releasing a new solo album called ‘Billion Dollar Sound’. His album drops this Friday, May 16, but it can be pre-ordered at RichCronin.net. The first 2,500 people to buy the album will get a limited edition CD with 18 tracks. As his website says “Order quickly, the albums are selling fast.” Considering he’s the same desperate guy on Match.com trying to milk his success in LFO, I highly doubt it.

According to reports, we can now own the new Coldplay album ‘Viva La Vida’ for half the usual price. Whatever it takes to publicize and sell albums, right? The band recently announced a buy one get one free offer on internet downloads saying “Buy one get one free, it comes from working in Kwik Save (British budget supermarket), I think. As I said before nobody buys albums any more, certainly no body buys full albums and we’ve made an album that you have to have from start to finish.” Record stores must be fuming about this. Why buy the release in stores when you can get it for half the price online?

adele.jpg

Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger has given roly-poly singer Adele his rock royalty seal of approval. Lucky girl.

Snake-hipped Mick warmed to the Brit-winning star when he sat opposite her at a lavish party hosted by his daughter Jade at a posh London restaurant.

Snooty fashionistas choked on their watercress salad as Adele steamed into her dinner a bit too enthusiastically. She stuffed down her grub using her fingers and complained that her steak was raw, after it had been deliberately cooked medium rare.

But the South London songstress made a great impression on Mick, who was overheard telling Jade: “That girl is ace, man.”

One guest at the plush Automat said: “When people started mocking Adele’s table manners good old Mick leapt to her defence saying he loved her ‘couldn’t care less’ attitude. He said it was refreshing to meet someone like her. When Jade then told him Adele was the Chasing Pavements singer he knew the song and said they should get together for a gig.”

That’s a collaboration I’d love to hear.

Adele confessed she was starstruck as she chatted to wrinkly rocker Mick at the Belvedere Jagger Dagger bash to launch a $250,000 jewelled ice pick Jade has designed for the vodka giant.

Adele said: “I couldn’t believe it when I realised I was sitting opposite Mick Jagger. I was really nervous. I wasn’t making any sense when I was talking to him but he was really charming.”

I love it that Adele mopped up her dinner with her fingers — and it was even better when she later trundled out of the restaurant with a cocktail in hand, looking worse for wear.

The way she refuses to conform to showbiz stereotypes is a breath of fresh air.

Is it or isn’t it?

A controversial video concerning the sexual escapades of Jimi Hendrix is the real thing, says rock ‘n roll experts who have seen it, according to Vivid Entertainment, which will release the DVD in stores today and simultaneously make it available for download from its website.

Make up your minds. First it is, then it isn’t, now it is again…

Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch said his company is so confident of the authenticity of the 40-year-old footage in “Jimi Hendrix The Sex Tape” that it recently offered $100,000 to Experience Hendrix, LLC (”Experience Hendrix”), the family company of the legendary guitarist, if it can provide verifiable proof that Hendrix is not the “star” of the tape.

Blimey I hope he’s right.

The controversy over the tape escalated after Experience Hendrix publicly denied the tape actually showed Hendrix having sex with two unidentified brunettes.

Mr. Hirsch said: “The press release/statement from Experience Hendrix proves nothing. Vivid took considerable time and spent a substantial sum of money to authenticate the footage and we are very comfortable that this is the real thing. We believe that those who say otherwise are relying on their emotions to make unsubstantiated claims. If Experience Hendrix can prove definitively that it’s not Jimi Hendrix on this footage then we will pay them $100,000.”

According to MTV News, a new Beck album is set to drop some time within the next 6 weeks. The new Beck release was reportedly produced by Gnarls Barkley’s Danger Mouse and features collaborations with a number of artists including Cat Power. That definitely sounds promising! An official announcement regarding the actual release date is supposedly coming really soon. Beck is also supposedly lining up some west coast gigs in August. There’s definitely a lot of new releases this year. It’s a good thing that most of them are great or have promise in them. It would be better if it was all free though.

The top three contestants for American Idol has just been revealed as Jason Castro becomes the latest Idol castoff. Considering his all too predictable performance of ‘I Shot the Sheriff’ and forgetting lyrics to ‘Mr. Tambourine Man’ on Tuesday night, it was pretty much inevitable. Syesha Mercado joined Jason in the bottom two. Next week’s theme will be judges’ choice with contestants paying a visit to their hometowns. Maroon 5 and former Idol runner up Bo Bice performed on the show with their respective singles ‘If I Never See Your Face Again’ and ‘Witness’. Congratulations go out to Bo who’s expecting a little boy with his wife soon.

Madonna performed at another private showcase to promote her new album ‘Hard Candy’ at the Olympia concert hall stage in Paris, France on Tuesday. In an interview with the Associated Press, the Queen of Pop talked about the collaboration process on her new album saying “I thought of it as a true and equal collaboration. … I like to think that when you listen to the record, you don’t just go, ‘Oh, that is a Timbaland record or that’s Pharrell (of the Neptunes).’ That you hear it and you go, ‘There is something new and different about it’.” And yet it’s pretty obvious which is which’s work.

Usher has blasted Noel Gallagher over his comments about Glastonbury headliner Jay-Z.

The R’n’B singer believes the Oasis star is wrong to say Jay-Z shouldn’t headline the music festival, and insists the rapper will prove him wrong with a spectacular performance.

Usher said: ‘It really shocked me that he said Jay-Z was the wrong choice. Jay-Z is an incredible artist and headliner. I saw him perform at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and you’re not getting better than that.’

Usher is not the first person to blast Noel, who claimed booking Jay-Z was ‘wrong’ and went against the festival’s ‘tradition of guitar music’.

Last week, event organiser Michael Eavis hit back, saying: ‘Why did Noel need to get involved? It was a bit weird, to be honest. He should give someone else a chance. He needn’t have said that and I was disappointed he did.’

Pete Doherty is to be released early from prison after serving just 29 days of his 14-week sentence.

The singer was jailed last month for breaking the conditions of his probation by refusing to take drug tests following a suspended sentence for heroin posession.

Doherty’s incarceration has led to the cancelling and postponing of several shows, but his early release means that he’ll more than likely be able to appear at this year’s Glastonbury festival as planned. Don’t hold your breath though…

News of the early release has sparked off questions about the special treatment of celebrity law-breakers and the early release of jailbirds in general.

zutons.JPGamy-wino.jpg

The Zutons want to work with Amy Winehouse but are wary of her wild side.

The British band say they would like to collaborate with the troubled singer - who recorded a version of their hit track ‘Valerie’ with super producer Mark Ronson - but fear they couldn’t keep up with her on a night out.

Frontman Dave McCabe explained: “I really like her version of ‘Valerie’. I think it’s a totally positive thing, plus we get paid for it! I’d like to have a go at working with her, but I’m not sure what we’d do. I don’t know if I’d go out with her though - if we took her to Liverpool, she would probably get us into loads of s**t like she does in London when she is drunk, only it would be worse.”

The original version of ‘Valerie’ reached number nine in the British singles chart when it was released in June 2006, while Amy and Mark’s version hit the number two spot last October.

Other bands may have liked the route they went down on but Thom Yorke isn’t so sure anymore. The Radiohead front man is saying that the “pay as you’d like” deal that his band used to launch their last release ‘In Rainbows’ was just a one-time thing. He says “I think it was a one-off response to a particular situation… I don’t think it would have the same significance now anyway, if we chose to give something away again. It was a moment in time.” The band was not pleased with their record label EMI at the time they decided to release their music for free.

jimi-hendrix-tape.jpg

A sex tape featuring Jimi Hendrix is being released on the Internet, according to reports in the US.

Los Angeles porn company Vivid has obtained footage, allegedly showing the late music legend having sex with two women, from a memorabilia collector and plans to release it online and in shops.

Sources say the 11minute video is dimly lit and features no sound but that the makers have consulted with several experts - including one of his former lovers, Pamela Des Barres - to authenticate it.

Vivid’s co-chairman Steven Hirsch said: “I believe that we did our due diligence, and as a result of that clearly believe that it’s him. If they said that it wasn’t him, I would never have put it out.”

Jimi died of a drug overdose in 1970 at the age of 27. Representatives for his estate have declined to comment.

Vivid Entertainment is the world’s largest adult film producer and has previously released celebrity sex tapes featuring Pamela Anderson,Kim Kardashian and Tommy Lee.

They say things like “Madonna uses ‘Hard Candy’ to renew her brand and defy skeptics, yet again”, “No one since Madonna has come close to achieving the same alchemy of flirtation, pop proficiency, concert spectacle and self-guided tenacity”, “‘Hard Candy’ also taps into exactly the sounds that current hip-hop reclaims from the disco era: electro keyboard riffs, filtered voices and bits of Latin percussion”, and “Her grand statement on ‘Hard Candy’ is nothing more than that she’s still around and can still deliver neat, calculated pop songs.”

Kelly Osbourne performed during the second day of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival which was held at the Empire Polo Field on Saturday in Indio, California. The 23-year old talked about being at the festival and while she was excited about her performance, she was more excited about hearing some bands. She explained by saying “I’m going for Kraftwerk. I don’t know why. I just want to see them so bad. Coachella is a great place to learn about new bands.” With the plethora of artists out there today, it never hurts too much to experiment on what to listen to and who to watch.

U2 are to restart work on their new album ditching a years worth of material.

The band, working on the follow up to 2004 LP How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, said that they are unhappy with the results and have decided to scrap the last 12 months in order to start afresh.

The Edge told us: “We went into this project allowing ourselves the indulgence of making music without thinking about where it was going to end up. We’re starting to get serious now”.

We all look forward to the final results…I hope it’s worth it guys!

kasabian-tom-meighan.jpg

Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan is lucky to be alive.

The singer is amazed he has managed to survive all the hard partying he’s done over the years without going to rehab.

He said: “Since Kasabian came out, most of it has just been a blackout for me. Thank God I’m still here. I haven’t gone to rehab, which is the genius thing. When we were on tour with Oasis, when we did America, we had some great nights with Liam and Noel Gallagher. That was an amazing time - and meeting Lars from Metallica. I got off stage in San Francisco and he was in our f**king tour bus - and that’s the b******s.”

Meighan also revealed he is obsessed with Pot Noodles, and always takes the British instant savoury snack with him on tour.

He added: “We take Pot Noodles with us. Everyone loves chicken and mushroom, but beef and tomato is pretty cool. And I tell you what’s really underestimated - chow mein. Great flavour.”

Richie Sambora was charged with DUI late last month as the idiot actually drove while intoxicated with his 10-year old daughter was in the car. His blood test came back showing that he had a blood alcohol level of .13. According to reports, the Bon Jovi guitarist has just plea-bargained his case and plead no contest to driving drunk. Fortunately for him, the DUI charge was dismissed and no child endangerment charges were filed. Richie will just be place on informal probation for 3 years, attend an alcohol education course and will be required to pay a $390 fine plus penalties. Chalk it up to the fact that he has one of the most effective criminal defense lawyers in Blair Berk who represented Lindsay Lohan and Mel Gibson.

American Idol’s most recent castoff Kristy Lee Cook was spotted as she was leaving ABC studios after appearing on ‘Live with Regis and Kelly’ in New York City on Monday. Kristy’s journey on the Idol stage has gotten more attention lately as she had to sell her horse to get money to travel to the audition. Now that she’s made it as big as she could get, she wants her horse back. Unfortunately, the guy she sold it to is not open to selling the horse back to Kristy. Come on man! She was eliminated already. At least give her the horse as a consolation.

sting.jpg

Sting stole ideas for some of The Police’s biggest hits from Nevada singer Roy Smith, it has been claimed.

In a filed police report, Smith claims Sting wrote ‘Roxanne’ and ‘Message In A Bottle’ after they had a lengthy conversation in the 70s about his life - including his friendship with a prostitute called Roxanne - but has since failed to honor his agreement to give him royalties for the tracks.

A police spokesman said: “The initial review of the report indicates that the statute of limitations of any potential crime in this matter has expired. The alleged victim may have to pursue the matter through civil litigation.”

Lawyers for Sting, real name Gordon Sumner, have denied all the allegations against the singer. Smith says Sting heard him singing in Molly’s Garden Restaurant in Reno in 1977, and asked him if he wanted to go for a drink.

After getting a beer in a local 7-Eleven convenience store, the pair went back to Sting’s basement where Smith regaled the singer with stories of his past including how following his father’s death, he wrote his mother messages which he put in a bottle.

Romeo Entertainment, a booking company, is pissed that Matchbox 20 canceled their performance at Cheyenne Frontier Days, which claims to be the world’s biggest outdoor rodeo, because of the mistreatment of animals at the events. Said booking company is now suing… animal activists?! They are claiming that the animal activist group SHARK contacted the band’s agents and used “false and misleading information and the threat of negative publicity” to get the band to drop out of their July 18 gig. They also claim that SHARK was responsible for Carrie Underwood pulling out of the same event in July of 2006. Romeo is seeking around $100,000 in damages.

Though pre-sales of her single and record have been low and ratings of shows she was a guest on receive low ratings, it’s not true that we’ve developed an allergy to the diva that is Mariah Carey. Based on first day sales, her new ‘E=MC2’, which was released this past Tuesday, is on track to sell over 500,000 copies in its first week. The curvaceous diva and her lambs now have a lot of reason to celebrate besides her losing 20 pounds. Congratulations! Though I’m wondering how long the celebration will last. Madonna’s album release is just around the corner.

It never rains but it pours for poor Pete Doherty.

The junkie waster’s so-called mates have taken advantage of his stint in prison to flog his gear – and I don’t mean his drugs stash.

They have been going round North London pubs selling his paintings and other prized trinkets to fans. A pal revealed: “Pete’s mates, people he really trusts, have been flogging his stuff to get some cash, including some of the horrible paintings he did using his blood. The chap selling those, one of his closest friends, was begging for no one to tell him. Then the next day he was back with something else.”

Someone get the violins out for Pete – I’ve just bought his for $2.5.

amy_winehouse.jpg

Amy Winehouse has been warned by her label to keep out of trouble – or NEVER release another album.

Chiefs at Universal issued the stern ultimatum that the druggy singer can only put out another CD if she is clean. The firm’s European head honcho, Lucian Grainge, made a similar threat earlier this year to get her into rehab after press exposed footage of her smoking crack.

But label bosses have watched her slip back to her old ways and have reminded her of the conditions of releasing a third record. A source revealed: “Amy has been reminded of her responsibilities. Unless she is clean she will not be allowed to release another album. She took notice when Lucian talked to her earlier in the year and agreed to go to rehab. But she didn’t take it seriously enough. They would never release her from her deal, they would just not put an album out.”

Amy’s label are now privately accepting there will be no album until 2009 after she scrapped plans to start recording in the Bahamas. And my source added: “The label were not impressed. She has been warned about her behaviour and needs to keep the standards up.”

Universal’s stance suggests this could be the last album of her deal. Otherwise they would be churning something out to capitalise on her fame. And while it’s commendable they are taking a tough stand, I think Universal need Amy more than she needs them.

It sounds like a no Wine situation to me . . .
