U2 kicked off their epic world tour in Barcelona, Spain in a stadium filled with 90,000 people on Wednesday night. As a tribute to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, the band’s lead singer Bono dedicated their beautiful song ‘Angel of Harlem’ to the singer that he called a great talent. Towards the end of their performance of the song, excerpts from Michael’s ‘Man in the Mirror’ and ‘Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough’ were sung by Bono in Michael’s trademark falsetto voice. That was a tribute that I would have loved to have witnessed myself. I’m sure it was truly beautiful.

Michael Jackson’s long time dermatologist and recently revealed as the true father of two of his children, Arnold Klein, is wanted for questioning by the LAPD. The cops are looking to find out if Dr. Klein had been prescribing or given the late King of Pop any medicine leading up to his sudden death last week. Dr. Klein’s Beverly Hills office was the doctor’s office that the late singer often visited in the recent months that have passed. Could the doctor have supplied Michael with the drugs that possibly ended his life? The investigation into his death is turning messier as the days pass.

Michael Jackson made a desperate call to a nurse just four days before his death - but ignored her demands to race to hospital.

Nurse Cherilyn Lee, 56, insists she told Jackson he needed immediate emergency care in a call in which he begged: ‘Please come, I need you now’.

And she also revealed that Jackson had previously begged her for a powerful sedative, ignoring her when she told him: “If you take this you might never wake up.”

Nurse Lee claims Jacko was desperate for Diprivan, a sedative given intravenously and usually only in intensive care units.

Experts say the sedative, also known as Propofol, can be addictive and lead to accidental death - including through cardiac arrest.

“He told me: ‘I just want to get some sleep, you don’t understand. I want an IVU that when it drips into my hand I want to be knocked out and go to sleep’,” the nurse recalled.

“It’s so painful because I actually felt it in my whole spirit - I said: ‘You want to be knocked out but if you take this you might never wake up’.”

She said despite her severe warning, Jackson still begged for the drug - and asked her to find someone who would monitor him overnight while he was on it.

“He said: ‘OK I see it’s dangerous but as long as there’s someone to monitor me I should be OK’,” she recalled. “And I said: ‘No you would not be OK’.”

Nurse Lee said Michael pleas came back to her as soon as she realized he was sick - and then more so when news hit of Jacko’s death.

“When I saw it on the news I felt I knew what had happened,” she said. “I really didn’t know what to do.”

The nurse says she realized he was in a bad way on Sunday, just four days before he died. Her words are a stark contrast to most people around Jackson who insist that there were no signs of anything being wrong.

She added: “I received a call and I could hear Mr Jackson in the background saying: ‘Please have her come see me now, I need her now’.

“The person on the other end of the phone, who I’d prefer not to give out their name, said: ‘Mr Jackson really really needs you’.

“They told me the symptoms and I said: ‘That is very serious. You need to go to the hospital. Unfortunately I’m not in town to see you but you need to go to the hospital’.

“I was really afraid because of the symptoms that he was telling me.

“The symptoms were that one side of his body felt cold, the one side of his body felt hot. That could have meant something going on with the nervous system, or something cardiovascular, but more the nervous system because of the brain itself. He needed to go to the hospital.”

Ms Lee says she could not rush to help him because she was in Florida in hospital herself - and by the time she was back in LA it was too late for the King of Pop.

If you were hoping for an album of new material from Brandon Flowers and the rest of The Killers, keep wishing. The band has announced that they have plans to release an album full of covers by the end of this year. Lead singer Brandon told NME “It’s something that we’ve always talked about doing and we’re still talking about.” He also said that the group was having trouble with song selection, saying “It’s difficult for each of us to pick songs that represent us as individuals. I mean, I have a lot of personalities myself! I’ve gone through everything from Neil Diamond to the Cars.”

The show must go on!
Michael Jackson’s highly anticipated This Is It spectacular, planned for London’s O2 Arena, will continue as a tribute show, MSNBC is reporting.
A-list performers are expected to appear, replicating what was planned for Michael’s concerts.
It is rumored that Madonna will take the stage - as the legend was to make a surprise appearance during Michael’s run at the O2 Arena.
According to a tour organizer, one performance will now be held in September, but a decision has not been made as to where the tribute show will take place. Though, most likely, it will be LA.
That will be quite amazing to see!

The musician from The Kills has recently grown tired with his wife’s singing and is apparently going to place a ban on it. A source relates how Kate Moss manages to “brighten” up Jamie Hince’s days with her singing: “When she’s not working, Kate likes nothing more than getting some pals over to her place after lunch, cracking open a couple of bottles and then singing to her heart’s content. But Jamie is getting a little tired of the lengthy sing-a-longs and has now told her that she can only rock the mic for just half an hour a day.” Ok, so maybe Jamie Hince is only boycotting Kate Moss’ singing, but I have to ask myself: is it really that bad? I mean sure, a drunken voice isn’t exactly a siren’s song, but… just thirty minutes a day? That sounds cruel.

The singer recently admitted that meeting Jay-Z was a totally memorable experience for him, even though he and the rapper are now friends. Daniel Merriweather related the epic moment: “When I first met him, he almost seemed mythical - like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Jay-Z!’ That’s because he symbolizes that whole era of hip-hop. And he’s still great - there’s always an extra level of awareness in whatever he does. I do see him quite a lot socially because he’s a friend of a friend, but I’m a genuine fan. He’s great to hang out with, he’s very controlled, you can tell there are always cogs turning in his mind, and he never has his guard down completely.” Ah, so this is how the two are friends: Jay-Z is actually the friend of a friend… now that adds an important piece to the picture. And of course Daniel Merriweather was thrilled to meet Jay-Z… it’s not every day you get to meet a one man industry that makes more money than a few small countries.

Initial papers have been filed to probate Michael Jackson’s estate but it seems that the family had no idea that the late singer had a will. The petition was filed by Michael’s parents, Joe and Katherine. However, the papers say that the King of Pop died intestate, meaning without a will. It has recently been revealed by Michael’s long time lawyer, John Branca, that the singer had a will signed that he intends to file within 30 days. The petition asks that Katherine be named as administrator of the will, meaning she gets to call the shots. The papers also say that Debbie Rowe will be served with notice of a hearing.

Hundreds of UK fans are waiting to learn the details of a refund for tickets they have bought to Michael Jackson concerts that was earmarked in a statement by the promoter last week.

But the refund may be delayed by the insurance policy taken out by AEG Live, the promoter of Michael Jackson’s bonanza UK 50-date concert tour.

AEG Live, a unit of Anschultz Corporation, sold US$85 million in tickets for the London O2 arena concerts. Jackson was paid a US$20 million advance, and AEG shelled out another US$10 million for rehearsals in Los Angeles, the last of which was held at the Staples Centre the night before Jackson died.

AEG Live bought an insurance policy through Lloyd’s, the insurance market of London, that was meant to shore any losses incurred through Jackson cancellations.

But in the case of cancellation due to medical issues, the policy depends on a physical exam that Jackson had not yet taken. The physical had been scheduled for coming days.

Some fans, meanwhile, may get their refunds due to a separate insurance policy bought by a company called Seatwave, a secondary ticket market in Europe.

Seatwave chief executive Joe Cohen said the policy covered up to 10,000 people who bought tickets through the company’s UK and German websites in the event of cancellation. Between £250 and £300 was paid for each ticket.

Michael Jackson’s last ever performance will be screened to fans after staff filmed the exclusive footage.

Michael passed away on June 25 after he reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest. His last stage performance was filmed by staff when he performed at LA’s Staples Centre.

Randy Phillips, from his tour promoters AEG Live who have secured the rights to the footage, said: “He danced as well or better than the 20-year-old dancers we surrounded him with.

“He was riveting. I thought this was going to be the greatest live show ever produced. He was so great, I got goose bumps.”

Michael was due to fly to London for the shows just weeks after his death and it was set to be a spectacular run of shows.

An insider said: “Talks are going on to decide what to do with this high quality footage of Michael Jackson’s last on-stage performance. These recordings are worth tens of millions of pounds.

“It’s still highly sensitive but there’s a feeling the film could be cut to show a complete performance and be screened at huge arenas, maybe even the O2.

“Nothing can replace seeing Michael on stage – but this is the nearest there is.”

There are perks that come with a crashing economy. The annual Virgin Music Festival in Maryland has now turned into the Virgin Mobile Free Fest because the huge event will now be completely free. In a statement made by the founder and president of the Virgin Group, Richard Branson said “In a time of economic challenges and daily sacrifices, we wanted to throw a fantastic party so people could let loose and have a great time - on us.” The line up for the August 30 show includes Franz Ferdinand, Weezer and Blink 182. It’s not as stellar as previous line ups which included Kanye West and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. But then again, it’s still a free show.

Lady Gaga gave an explosive performance at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada last week. The 23-year old singer performed her hits ‘Love Game’ and ‘Poker Face’. And talk about giving an explosive performance to be remembered! Lady Gaga’s bustier was rigged with pyrotechnics which went off as she performed with dancers dressed as police officers. She also took home the award for best International video for ‘Poker Face’. That’s was all she won? What a travesty! Nickelback racked up the awards as their hit ‘Gotta Be Somebody’ won for best video, best rock video and best post-production. Congratulations!

When 3 former Evanescence members and one American Idol finalist formed The Fallen, they should have at least done a bit of research. The Fallen is already a band and they are pissed. Legal papers have been sent to the new band demanding a cease and desist order. The new band has now renamed themselves as We Are The Fallen. Well that’s a big leap from the first try. What? Couldn’t they get their creative juices flowing? I wonder if new lead singer Carly Smithson will be lending a hand when it comes to writing the rest of the band’s album.

In an attempt to drum up more press, the label head responsible for releasing Adam Lambert’s old recordings is speaking out. John Hecker, CEO of Hi Fi Recordings claims that the American Idol runner up co-wrote the tracks on his album ‘On with the Show’ which the label plans to release this summer. Adam said he was only hired as a studio singer. Hecker told Billboard another story though saying “The music’s amazing. There are some up tempo [songs], there’s some that rock a little more, and there are some songs on the same tip as Want. It’s a real album that’s coming out, not just a conglomerate of a bunch of songs. This is all original material — as a matter of fact, Adam wrote a lot of it.” Interesting.

The singer has recently revealed that she has a stalker. Jordin Sparks shared the following story: “I had the same cell phone number since seventh grade up to last summer, so a lot of people had my number. Somebody thought it would be funny to post it on MySpace. Loads of people got my number, and I had this person texting me going, ‘I know this is you. I know this is you, why don’t you answer? I know this is you, why don’t you answer? I’m going to keep calling you.’ I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ and I had people leaving me voice messages and text messages, so in the end I changed my number.” Well, there are stalkers and there are stalkers… this one just seems to be a bit of a maniac that’s all. Maybe he’s one of the many broken souls of the American Idol show… lord only knows there are plenty of those.

Michael Jackson has died, according to a US report TMZ.com claims the former King of Pop died on Thursday afternoon after suffering a heart attack at his rented Los Angeles home.

When paramedics arrived at his mansion he was not breathing and had no pulse.

Paramedics performed CPR on the singer but were unable to revive him, said TMZ.

His family had followed him to UCLA hospital with his mother Katherine arriving about an hour after the ambulance arrived.

Usher recently sat down for an interview with Entertainment Tonight talking about his new life and his divorce from older wife Tameka Foster. The singer talked about filing for divorce but being in a good space, saying “I’d hate for them to assume that. If there’s any turmoil I think it’s managing all of it, but having an incredible team that helps me do that it makes it very easy, or easier than it would normally be attempting to do it myself.” He also talked about being a father to 2 young boys, saying “What I do is, I try to get [my work] done and get home on the weekends if possible … but when I’m with my boys it’s just all about them.” That’s just sad. He’s traipsing around the world and his sons only get to see him on weekends.

The band has apparently been unable to leave Canada until their manager turned himself in after assaulting Perez Hilton. It seems that the Black Eyed Peas’ manager together with wll.i.am gave the blogger a good beating at a nightclub because of an earlier altercation he had with Fergie. In a video statement, Perez Hilton admitted that he incited the whole thing due to his reaction toward will.i.am: “He was like, ‘You need to respect me.’ He was obviously trying to intimidate me and scare me. I was like, ‘I don’t respect you’ and I did say this - and I knew that it would be the worst thing I could possibly say to him because he was acting the way he was - I said, ‘You know what, I don’t respect you and you’re gay and stop being such a faggot.’” Maybe the manager just wanted to take in the sights of Canada and didn’t know how to detain

Bret Michaels has nothing better to do than continue to talk about the whole Tony incident where he missed his mark and walked right into a stage prop and ended up with a fractured nose and split lip. After much whining about not receiving an apology from the Tony execs and complaining about being hurt, everyone thought that the Poison singer was ready to sue. However, he said that a lawsuit isn’t going to happen. He said “All in all, I’d like to think I feel okay. But I got to be honest with you, I feel pretty beat up. I want to make very clear to everybody that – first and foremost – I was honored to be asked to be at the Tonys. I’d never done it before and in all my life it’s not something I thought I’d be on. I was really excited. There’s no lawsuit. I’m not doing any of that. I’m taking the high road.”

The front man of U2 recently confessed the fear he has of his wife, Ali Hewson, becoming independent. Bono said: “Our relationship has changed a lot. For a while I thought I was in charge, I was the hunter-protector. A few years ago it became clear somebody else was in charge, and I feel I hold on a lot tighter to her than she does to me, and that slightly bothers me. She’s so independent and sometimes I wish she wasn’t.” Yeah, it’s times like this that Bono should probably consider giving up the showbiz bit and just settling down and getting away from it all… before it’s too late!

Green Day has just premiered the video for their new single, “21 Guns,” exclusively on MySpace Music. The video was helmed by noted director Marc Webb, who has lensed clips for such artists as My Chemical Romance, Weezer, and All-American Rejects, and is making his feature film directorial debut in July with (500) Days of Summer.

“21 Guns” is the second single from the band’s latest album 21st Century Breakdown, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, as well as on the Rock, Active Rock, and Alternative charts, fueled by the Alternative radio No. 1 single “Know Your Enemy.” 21st Century Breakdown, which Rolling Stone has called “a rock opera in which the rock always comes first,” also topped the charts in 24 countries including the UK, Canada, and Japan.

Over the past month, Green Day has continued to work with MySpace Music for the promotion of 21st Century Breakdown. During the week of the album’s release, they played an exclusive concert in New York City which was filmed for the site’s premiere online concert program, The List. The performance can now be seen on The List’s official MySpace profile.

This year’s show will take place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 9th, and air the next day, Monday, August 10th, on FOX at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can vote for Green Day at http://www.teenchoiceawards.com/.

The combination… though not one you would expect to be to common these days, apparently had a great effect at a concert the two bands participated in recently in Mansfield. Even tough you’d expect Aerosmith playing after Dropkick Murphys to be like eating ice cream after pizza. Apparently the fans didn’t think so and the concert was a success. It’s strange what combinations are starting to work these days… more stranger is the fact that Steven Tyler didn’t try his handiness at one of those tin-whistles. He probably just likes to stick to his harmonica like any decent hard rocker.

It seems that the singer will not be getting any delays on his preliminary hearing as his lawyer had hoped. Chris Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, was unsuccessful in appealing to the California Supreme Court in intervening in the felony assault case and it seems that Chris Brown isn’t going to be able to get a breather before the whipping from his former girlfriend, Rihanna, starts to kick in. Can you believe it? The legal system is actually working at an accelerated pace… Rihanna must have some pretty well-spoken friends considering how things are going. Too bad the hearing will not be televised… it would’ve made one hell of a show.

With Miley Cyrus possibly ending her gig on Disney’s Hannah Montana, it looks like Billy Ray Cyrus needs to work and make some money on his own. Billy Ray performed last weekend at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip. I didn’t even know he has any other song since ‘Achy Breaky Heart’. Miley’s older sister Brandi, along with the two other members of her band Frank and Derol, also opened the show for their dad. It shouldn’t be a wonder why they still don’t have a record deal. Wow. It’s a complete family of annoying little twits, has-beens and wannabes.

Rihanna isn’t buying into any of the nice gestures by her ex Chris Brown. At Game 4 of the NBA Finals in Orlando last week, a source tells the New York Daily News that she attended the game because of Magic forward Rashard Lewis whom she apparently has a crush on. There are also rumors that the singer is having a romance with Lakers center Andrew Bynum but a source slams that saying “Ri and Andrew are just friends, and they have been for a while. It’s Rashard who she wants. She thinks he’s hotter than hot.” What about her rumored boyfriend, rapper Drake?

Nine Inch Nails played what has been said to be their last show in the United States last weekend at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee. Lead singer Trent Reznor shared the news with the crowd during one of the breaks in their set saying “It just dawned on me that this is our last show ever in the United States. Don’t be sad. I’ll keep going. But I think I’m going to lose my fucking mind if I keep doing this, and I have to stop.” Does that mean he’s simply leaving the band and try his luck at a solo career instead?
