Stomach bug forces Depeche Mode to cancel gig

Depeche Mode’s concert in Athens was cancelled after lead singer David Gahan’s was suddenly taken ill in his dressing-room with suspected gastroenteritis last night, according to media reports.
According to BBC News, a spokesperson for the singer told fans, who had gathered for the gig, that a doctor had advised Gahan that he could not perform.
“I am very sorry, there is nothing we can do. He is genuinely ill. He asked me to pass on my apologies to you all,” the spokesperson said.
It is hoped the band will be able to perform later today, the news service said.
