Michael Jackson’s nurse begged him to go to hospital just four days before his death
Michael Jackson made a desperate call to a nurse just four days before his death – but ignored her demands to race to hospital.
Nurse Cherilyn Lee, 56, insists she told Jackson he needed immediate emergency care in a call in which he begged: ‘Please come, I need you now’.
And she also revealed that Jackson had previously begged her for a powerful sedative, ignoring her when she told him: “If you take this you might never wake up.”
Nurse Lee claims Jacko was desperate for Diprivan, a sedative given intravenously and usually only in intensive care units.
Experts say the sedative, also known as Propofol, can be addictive and lead to accidental death – including through cardiac arrest.
“He told me: ‘I just want to get some sleep, you don’t understand. I want an IVU that when it drips into my hand I want to be knocked out and go to sleep’,” the nurse recalled.
“It’s so painful because I actually felt it in my whole spirit – I said: ‘You want to be knocked out but if you take this you might never wake up’.”
She said despite her severe warning, Jackson still begged for the drug – and asked her to find someone who would monitor him overnight while he was on it.
“He said: ‘OK I see it’s dangerous but as long as there’s someone to monitor me I should be OK’,” she recalled. “And I said: ‘No you would not be OK’.”
Nurse Lee said Michael pleas came back to her as soon as she realized he was sick – and then more so when news hit of Jacko’s death.
“When I saw it on the news I felt I knew what had happened,” she said. “I really didn’t know what to do.”
The nurse says she realized he was in a bad way on Sunday, just four days before he died. Her words are a stark contrast to most people around Jackson who insist that there were no signs of anything being wrong.
She added: “I received a call and I could hear Mr Jackson in the background saying: ‘Please have her come see me now, I need her now’.
“The person on the other end of the phone, who I’d prefer not to give out their name, said: ‘Mr Jackson really really needs you’.
“They told me the symptoms and I said: ‘That is very serious. You need to go to the hospital. Unfortunately I’m not in town to see you but you need to go to the hospital’.
“I was really afraid because of the symptoms that he was telling me.
“The symptoms were that one side of his body felt cold, the one side of his body felt hot. That could have meant something going on with the nervous system, or something cardiovascular, but more the nervous system because of the brain itself. He needed to go to the hospital.”
Ms Lee says she could not rush to help him because she was in Florida in hospital herself – and by the time she was back in LA it was too late for the King of Pop.
