There are loud rumors that Billy Idol could be replacing Steven Tyler as the lead singer for the band Aerosmith. Insiders say that the ‘White Wedding’ singer was set to meet with Joe Perry last week but came down with a bad cold before the big talk. A source said “Joe said he wanted to talk to Billy about joining Aerosmith, because the band were having problems with Steven. As far as I know Idol did not show up due to having a cold.” I don’t know what to think about this. Billy replacing Steven could either be the most brilliant idea or the stupidest one.

The crap spitting out of Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is that he and Steven Tyler have still not spoken to one another since the news of the lead singer’s temporary departure from the band. At the AMAs, Joe admitted that the only time he hears anything from Steven and vice versa is through the media. When asked about the feud, Joe replied “You guys know more about it than I do.” It just seems like a waste to see nearly 4 decades of rock music end just like that. Considering all other iconic band break ups, they are just so lame and tame.

A great shadow has fallen upon the fate of Aerosmith… after the constant uncertainties about Steven Tyler leaving or not leaving the band, it now seems his band mates are afraid the singer is taking drugs… again. This is what guitarist Brad Whitford said about Steven Tyler’s strange behavior as of late: “I suspect there’s a lot more going on than we know about. He has a well-documented history of drug abuse, and I find myself very suspicious. I haven’t seen him do this or have any personal knowledge, but the isolation is very typical of addictive behavior, and his – what I call – irrational behavior.” Well, maybe Steven Tyler should take a break… a vacation into the magical, magical world of Rehab Land where the pixie dust is just a fragment of one’s imagination.

Despite an impromptu appearance by Steven Tyler at one of Joe Perry’s solo gigs a couple of days ago and the singer’s announcement that he wasn’t leaving Aerosmith, word form Joe is that the split is still on. The band’s guitarist told Rolling Stone magazine that the night of his gig in New York, he had no idea that Steven was at the venue nor did he know that he was going to tell the crowd that he wasn’t leaving the band. “There was all this commotion during our encore break and somebody said, ‘Steven is here.’ I was like, ‘What?’…So he came up and sang and that was the last I saw of him…He (Tyler) wants to take two years off from the band. The rest of the band wants to keep on working. We have so many different options to fill up that time. Anything is possible at this point.” Why does it seem like Joe and the rest of the band are pushing Steven out instead of him leaving?

It seems that the lead singer of the famous rock band has not been keeping true to his duties lately… at least as far as guitarist Joe Perry is concerned. This is what he said about Steven Tyler’s connections to Aerosmith lately: “I don’t know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.” Apparently there’s no sweat, Joe Perry even mentioned that they’ve been looking for a new singer and that they’re planning on going on without Steven Tyler. And another ember turns to stone… oh well, maybe Steven Tyler can finally embark on other projects now that he’ll have a lot of spare time on his hands.

Unfortunately, 61-year old rock singer Steven Tyler just can’t party it up like he used to. The Aerosmith front man took a tumble from the stage during a concert in South Dakota last week when he started dancing to amuse the crowd during technical difficulties. Steven was able to get back on his feet but he had to leave the stage to get a medical evaluation. He was later taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment. I guess his legs just aren’t as strong as they used to be. Let’s just hope that he recuperates quickly and he stops doing those dangerous dance moves.

The combination… though not one you would expect to be to common these days, apparently had a great effect at a concert the two bands participated in recently in Mansfield. Even tough you’d expect Aerosmith playing after Dropkick Murphys to be like eating ice cream after pizza. Apparently the fans didn’t think so and the concert was a success. It’s strange what combinations are starting to work these days… more stranger is the fact that Steven Tyler didn’t try his handiness at one of those tin-whistles. He probably just likes to stick to his harmonica like any decent hard rocker.

The Dinosaurs of Rock are coming a place near you soon! Rock legends Aerosmith will be joined by the iconic fellows of ZZ Top for a summer tour across the US. The first three dates have been announced to take place in Irvine, California, Kansas City, Missouri and St. Paul, Minnesota. A slew of other are said to be announced some time soon. While I’m a big fan of either group, considering their ages, I have doubts that they will all make it through the entire tour. Oh well, I guess they’re just taking a page out of Mick Jagger’s hand book of rock and roll.

Steven Tyler recently issued a statement about his recent stint in rehab. The Aerosmith front man claims that his trademark athletic performances injured his feet, requiring surgery and causing him a bunch of pain. He said “The doctors told me the pain in my feet could be corrected but it would require a few surgeries over time. The ‘foot repair’ pain was intense, greater than I’d anticipated. The months of rehabilitative care and the painful strain of physical therapy were traumatic. I really needed a safe environment to recuperate where I could shut off my phone and get back on my feet. Make no mistake, AEROSMITH has no plans to stop rocking. There’s a new album to record, then another tour.”

Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler has checked himself into Las Encinas Hospital, a drug rehabilitation clinic. It’s the same place that Dr. Drew practices in, located in Pasadena, California. It’s also the same facility where the reality show ‘Celebrity Rehab’ was filmed. While his reps had no comment about it, the 60-year old rocker is reportedly in there to get treatment for substance abuse. He needs to figure out that while he’s still living the rock star life, his body may not be able to handle it that much longer. I hope he gets better. If he wants a picture to fight against, he should think of Amy Winehouse or Pete Doherty.
