The Lonely Island Perform at Comedy Awards

American comedy band The Lonely Island performed their single “I Just Had Sex”, alongside Akon at the inaugural Comedy Awards. The show was taped back in March 26 but only aired this past Sunday. It took place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. As for the performance, much like their songs, it’s for laughs. I can’t believe these guys got to perform at an awards gala. Then again, these are the Comedy Awards. Akon just kept laughing during the entire performance. It’s a good thing he was lip synching. In other The Lonely Island news, their 2nd album “Turtleneck & Chain”, which features collaborations with Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and Nicki Minaj, will be released in the US on May 10.

Pitbull has a new song Mr. Right Now

The singer has recently released yet another new song called “Mr. Right Now” and he is once more collaborating with Akon. It seems that Pitbull has figured out that Akon does a much better job on singing the refrain for his songs and this combination of the Latin Hip-Hop and Akon’s pop/R&B singing voice is working very well for Pitbull. The lyrics are riddled with a sense of pseudo-promiscuity which also seems to be in the trend these days. Pitbull sure seems to know how to press the listeners buttons so to speak, but the song really doesn’t stand out from the other stuff he’s released.

“Hold My Hand” is the first single from Michael Jackson’s album entitled “Michael”, in stores on December 15th.

Enrique Iglesias is Latino King of Pop

Enrique Iglesias has been crowned the Latino King of Pop in the June/July 2010 issue of Para Todos magazine. The singer’s new album ‘Euphoria’ is due out on July 6 and it’s shaping up to be a good one with music produced by RedOne and collaborations with Akon and Usher. Enrique talked about his album saying “This album is unique in my career. Ten years ago, I wanted to do something half English and half Spanish, but there was no time and the record company was not prepared. Euphoria catches me at my most creative moment. I worked with only three producers and we are all friends, so it was a very relaxed setting.”
