The men of New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys already have a joint tour going for them this summer but it seems that they have decided to take things to a new level as they have announced that they will be going into the studio to record their first single as a mega pop group. They won’t be mashing up their hits like on their previous performances. They will be recording brand new collection of music. The first single, “Don’t Turn out the Lights” is said to be premiering soon and will be followed by a full album with several new songs. Wow!
Backstreet Boys member Brian Littrell claims that there’s one big difference between band mate AJ McLean’s current stint in rehab and his last one. And that is no one forced him to get help this time. Brian recently went on Bob 93.3 in North Carolina, telling the radio host “I’m proud that he would go into this situation willingly … Last time it was a lot worse. He really went into rehab unwillingly the last time.” According to the singer, AJ decided to commit to rehab over a month ago while the band was on the road. Hopefully, this would be AJ’s last stint in rehab.
For a guy who claims that he’s serious about staying sober, I wonder why recovering alcoholic AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys still keeps trekking back into the dangerously tempting Hollywood club scene. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for him staying clean but for a guy who fell off the wagon just a few months ago, maybe the bar he was spotted going to last week isn’t the best place to kick it nowadays. I doubt that clubs give a great environment for trying to stay sober. He obviously needs to find something else to do or some new friends.
Billboard is reporting that the Backstreet Boys have already started working on the follow-up to last year’s ‘Unbreakable’. The group has already recorded some new material for their sixth studio album while on their European tour and plan to hit the studio again after their tour of North America which kicks off on Tuesday in St. John’s, Newfoundland and wraps up on September 6 in Seattle. Howie Dorough says “We’re looking at getting back into the studio quite quickly. We want to hopefully have something ready to go or at least be heavily into it by the end of the year and have something out towards the beginning of next year.”
