Nick Jonas of the teen pop sensation The Jonas Bros says he dreams of being president one day.
Sixteen-year-old Jonas, on a hiatus from touring with his brothers, has been campaigning for awareness of juvenile-onset diabetes. Jonas was diagnosed with the insulin-dependent form of diabetes in 2005.
Speaking at the National Press Club, he said he may choose political science for college study.
“I’ve always had this dream of becoming president one day,” he said.
The youngest Jonas brother recalled a “very cool” surprise visit the band made to the White House earlier this year where he met with President Barack Obama’s daughters.
Jonas said in response to the presidency question: “As much as I joke about it and kind of say it to get a laugh, it is somewhat serious. I don’t know if it will happen.”
Jonas said that he still eats his favourite foods but closely monitors his diet. Once or twice during a concert he had to step away from the stage to take his blood sugar levels.
Jonas wears a diabetic insulin pump on his lower back while performs.
The rapper had an interview right after his performance at the Inaugural Ball. Kanye West had quite a few things to say, as you would imagine, but the most interesting part was when he was spoke about former president George W. Bush. Here are his words: “I feel like at the end of the day Bush was a, he was a human being and I think a lot of things he got overshadowed and just for me to just stand up and say right now and say like, wow, this is a real person at the end of the day who had feelings and hurts too. It’s just a shame that he couldn’t have done more at the end of his term to, you know, save his legacy in some way.” Yes, Bush was a real human being at the end, as opposed to the power-obsessed freak he was throughout his term. And as for his legacy, Kanye West shouldn’t worry too much because I’m sure nobody will be forgetting the Patriot Act too soon.
Rock royalty Sting isn’t immune to the course of nature and age. However, he does have some tricks up his sleeve as he has turned to dying his hair and beard in a bid to preserve his youthful good looks. Sting and his wife Trudie Styler showed up at the Art of Elysium 2nd Annual Heaven Gala looking much younger than their actual ages. The dress code called for black tie attire but Sting wore an open shirt and scarf instead. He’s Sting. He can do whatever he wants. The rocker is also scheduled to perform in Washington DC as part of Barack Obama’s inauguration celebrations.
