The FBI took a break from investigating terrorist and criminals to go after a blogger who leaked some songs from the allegedly forthcoming Guns N’ Roses album.

Last week, the Internet was rocked when California blogger Kevin Skwerl posted nine newly leaked Chinese Democracy tracks, including three previously unheard songs allegedly from Guns n’ Roses long-awaited album.

Skwerl — who used to work in the distribution department of Universal Music and is now a Web designer — runs the blog Antiquiet, and says he received the tracks from “an anonymous online source.”

Yesterday Skwerl was surprised to find himself face to face with two FBI agents who paid a visit to his day job.

“It was kind of an ambush,” Skwerl reports. “When I came back from lunch they were waiting in the lobby for me. It’s a little creepy they know where I work.” Two young FBI officers, who Skwerl describes as “Mulder and Scully types,” questioned him for 15 minutes about where he got the tracks and made plans to visit his house at 7:00 a.m. this morning.

First there was Radiohead and then Oasis. Metallica says they’re about to do it and now, Coldplay wants a piece of the action too. The UK band is giving away their music for free! Starting this past Tuesday at 12:15 PM UK time, Coldplay’s new song ‘Violet 4:11’ could be downloaded for one week only at Coldplay.com. In addition to that, London and New York City based fans will get free shows. There’s no clue as to whether any more songs will be for free but their new album ‘Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends’ will drop on June 12.

Rolling Stone is reporting that the likely headliners to this summer’s Lollapalooza are none other than Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails. Really? This is a great lineup if you ask me. That is, if this had been the lineup 10 years ago. Sure, they’re new albums are successful, but then again, they released them online and most were even given for free. They only gained money from “donations”. What? Is the music fest going to be for free too and the fans can just give a donation of a cent to enter? They’re both big names, but with today’s industry, I say give me someone else.

Fans are worried that My Chemical Romance are splitting up. The reason behind the worry is a cryptic message that has appeared on their website.

On TheBlackParade.com, there is a repeating image of a hospital monitor’s flat line and the words “00 BPM” on the bottom right hand side of the screen.

But what does it mean? There are two theories: it could be the end of the band as we know it, or less dramatic; just the end of the “Black Parade” era.

Whatever that means. I guess we shall just have to wait and see.

When it happened it shook the music industry. Top band Radiohead released their new album, In Rainbows, on the net in October…for free. It was a scheme intending fans to pay ‘what they thought it was worth’, including the option to pay nothing. Invites to fans to pre-order caused the website to crash. Music directors warned it would make music meaningless, causing it to become a throwaway item. But of course they would say that; there’s no profit in free stuff is there?

In contrast the fans thought it was great. The album soared to the top of the download charts and everyone thought the move was radical and revolutionary.

But now the rockers break their silence to claim they never wanted to be revolutionary. They simple said that everything they have ever written has been leaked, so why not leak it themselves. It was simply a move to prevent the album materialising illegally.

Hmm, I think preferred it when they were being radical personally. Otherwise it just kind of sounds like defeat, you know the kind of thing; “well you were going to steal it anyway so just have it”; before they throw the thing at us and shuffle off sulking.

Kanye West may be giving MTV the silent treatment but he has found ways of still complaining about it to our faces by making his own blog.

The rapper swore off MTV after the shut out at the 2007 VMAs and since then, he’s been working faster than a speeding bullet to post on his site. In one day alone, Kanye was able to post five times.

What is he blogging about? So far, he’s proven that he’s a fan of YouTube by posting clips of some of his favorite artists. He also talks about his favorite sneakers. And what’s a Kanye blog without Kanye talking about himself? The blog is also full of pics, videos and new clips of Kanye being confirmed as the ‘king of rap’.
