Celebrity-backed vodka caught in lawsuit

A celebrity-backed vodka company is suffering a massive hangover as it is embroiled in a vicious $15 million court battle. Investor Joseph Lehey has filed a complaint alleging that he poured $7.5 million into the Madea Vodka brand but that its creators squandered money on their own salaries, instead of developing the swanky brand. Meanwhile, the defendants – scientist Dr Tim Goldburt and co-founders Matt Sandy and David Perillo – allege in court documents that Lehey is “a desperate, irrational and potentially violent individual, who has engaged in threats of physical violence” against them. The luxury liquor has become popular in elite circles for its hi-tech bottle, which displays glowing personalised messages of up to 240 characters. It flaunts celebs like Jon Bon Jovi, Fran Drescher and Meryl Streep on its website and boasts “Wi-Fi-capable, electronically-powered illuminated display”.

Bon Jovi playing the O2 Arena

It seems that since Michael Jackson’s death, this very famous venue for concerts has become extremely available and the Bon Jovi band will be entertaining people coming here next year. And guess who the concert promoter is… well, AEG Live of course, who else? After all, they’re the ones that need extra acts since they lost their number one stars. A spokesperson of theirs was more than happy to do a little promotion for the upcoming event: “Bon Jovi are probably the best live band in the world. This one could run and run.” Yep, they’re probably going to be playing there again and again and again, until time has come to an end.

Bon Jovi Sued

Jon Bon Jovi owns an Arena Football Team called the Soul but the singer is being accused of lacking a heart when it comes to paying a former employee. The rocker is being sued by a former sales manager for the Philadelphia Soul AFL team, which Bon Jovi owns, who claims that he never got paid after the league decided to cancel the 2009 season. The guy says that Bon Jovi stiffed him out of $125,000 in back payments and severance. I wonder if the rest of the employees, including the team members got paid. Who even watches arena football anymore?

Live Earth India Cancelled

Live Earth India which was scheduled to take place in Mumbai, India on December 7th has been canceled due to security fears after last week’s terrorist attacks that left almost two hundred people dead and hundreds more injured. According to reports, the concert was designed to highlight environmental concerns and India’s Light a Billion Lives solar energy program. Bon Jovi and other booked artists were quick to cancel travel plans when the violence erupted which prompted organizers to call off the sold-out charity event. British artist Amar Dhanjan, who was booked to perform, thought cancellation was the right thing to do saying “It’s just not important compared to what’s happening there right now.”

Bon Jovi Says No to McCain

John McCain’s campaign people really need to learn. They’re still using music at their fundraisers and campaign trails by artists who don’t even support him nor want their songs associated with him. Despite cease and desist orders from musicians like Jackson Browne, Heart and the Foo Fighters, they’re still doing it. The most recent musician being used without permission is Bon Jovi and their song ‘Who Says You Can’t Go Home’. Mind you, the rocker is quite known as a Barack Obama supporter. Bon Jovi spoke out about it saying “We wrote this song as a thank you to those who have supported us over the past 25 years. The song has since become a banner for our home state of New Jersey and the de facto theme song for our partnerships around the country to build homes and rebuild communities. Although we were not asked, we do not approve of their use of ‘Home’.”

Bon Jovi rock Central Park

Around 70,000 Bon Jovi fans have been estimated to have flocked into Central Park on Saturday for a free concert by the band. 67,500 tickets were given away to the show with an estimated 48,500 getting on the lawn to see the concert.

The City of New York now limits attendance on the lawn at Central Park concerts to 50,000. In 1983, Diana Ross performed in front of 350,000 and in 1991 Paul Simon did a free show for an estimated 600,000.

The last Concert in Central Park was Dave Matthews in 2003. He had a crowd of 80,000 but the event caused $120,000 worth of damage.

The New Jersey band crossed the Hudson to perform the show as a bookend to the Major League Baseball All-Star game at Yankee Stadium on July 15.

Richie’s Plea Bargain

Richie Sambora was charged with DUI late last month as the idiot actually drove while intoxicated with his 10-year old daughter was in the car. His blood test came back showing that he had a blood alcohol level of .13. According to reports, the Bon Jovi guitarist has just plea-bargained his case and plead no contest to driving drunk. Fortunately for him, the DUI charge was dismissed and no child endangerment charges were filed. Richie will just be place on informal probation for 3 years, attend an alcohol education course and will be required to pay a $390 fine plus penalties. Chalk it up to the fact that he has one of the most effective criminal defense lawyers in Blair Berk who represented Lindsay Lohan and Mel Gibson.

Bon Jovi Unveils World Tour Details

Bon Jovi will embark on a world tour of more than 10 countries, beginning with the United States and Canada this fall.”We’re starting in New Jersey and then taking it to the world,” lead singer Jon Bon Jovi announced at last night’s (Oct. 25) first of 10 concerts at the new Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Following its 10-night stand at the $375 million, 18,000-capacity Prudential Center, which ends Nov. 10, the Bon Jovi Lost Highway World Tour will visit North American arenas through April 8. Tickets for U.S. dates go on sale Nov. 3, with additional markets to follow in the coming weeks.

The tour is scheduled to make stops in Japan, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Holland and Austria, among other countries. The trek is in support of Bon Jovi’s latest album, “Lost Highway,” which has sold 862,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

I watched Bon Jovi last nigh at CMT channel. He performed “Hallelujah” a song written by Leonard Cohen. It was first recorded on his 1984 album Various Positions. Since last night I can’t get this song out of my head. Check the video and see it your self .
