The star recently played his last show ever… at the Giants Stadium in New Jersey which will be demolished soon to create parking spaces for a new stadium. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band apparently gave it all they had by playing a three-hour show which included 31 tracks, out of which 7 were encores. Overall, Bruce Springsteen’s last performance at the Giants Stadium brought together 60000 people. Talk about something to have on your musical tombstone… but, Bruce Springsteen is probably going to have to wait a while before getting to that point in his career, unlike some others.

On Monday, some Bruce Springsteen fans hit a shady glitch on the Tickemaster website when they tried to buy tickets for his concert in New Jersey-Meadowlands. Apparently, fans got locked out of buying face value seats only to find themselves directed to Ticketmaster sister company’s website, TicketsNow, which was selling the locked out seats at a higher price. A New Jersey congressman has already called for an investigation on the matter. Now, the Boss and his people are in on the fray too. He said “We have asked this redirection from Ticketmaster to TicketsNow cease and desist immediately and Ticketmaster has agreed to do so in the future and has removed its unwanted material from their and our site… The abuse of our fans and our trust by Ticketmaster has made us as furious as it has made many of you. We will continue to do our utmost now and in the future to make sure that these practices are permanently curtailed on our tours.”

Speaking during an interview with New York Times Sunday Edition Bruce Springsteen has admitted that his deal with global giant retailer Wal-Mart wasn’t what he should have done.

At the start of this month Wal-Mart started with exclusive sales of Springsteen’s greatest hits CD and fans have always believed Springsteen as a supporter of worker’s rights something Wal-Mart has often faced criticism for.

In the interview Springsteen said of his decision: “It was a mistake. Our batting average is usually very good, but we missed that one. Fans will call you on that stuff, as it should be.”

Christina Aguilera selected Target and in all honesty, many consumers pick a place based on distance, gas, sales/price shop, or searching for a particular item…because nowadays people often choose price over the caring about labor practices.

No, it is not a stand-up comedy act and I only wish it were. Bruce Springsteen is apparently very fascinated by the wonderful world of supermarkets as he has recently related: “They opened up this big, beautiful supermarket near where we lived. I remember walking through the aisles and I thought ‘This place is spectacular. This place is a fantasy land!’ And then I started to get into it. I started looking around and hmmm – the subtext in here is so heavy. It’s like, do people really want to shop in this store or do they just want to screw on the floor?” He also added: “So the sexual subtext, well, maybe it’s just twisted me, but wow, it’s my new favorite place.” He apparently composed a song about a guy who falls for the counter girl. How come Bruce Springsteen doesn’t write songs about how supermarkets are built in the place of forests or historical landmark sites, how they bring the grocery-store owners to bankruptcy and the tragedies that can cause. No! Sing about banging the counter girl.

I guess that no one’s safe from the recession as Bruce Springsteen is willing to do whatever it takes to sell his music. Bruce and the E Street Band have just announced that they will be releasing another greatest hits collection soon, exclusively through Wal-Mart. Bruce will also be releasing his new album ‘Working on a Dream’ later next month on January 27th. It’s good timing considering that he will also be performing during the half time show at the Superbowl on February 1st. As for the greatest hits album, it will hit Wal-Mart stores on January 13th. That’s a lot of publicity for the guy.

The NFL picked Tom Petty to headline their halftime show at the Super Bowl last year. After each halftime performance, music people tend to start thinking about how they’re going to top the halftime show the following year. So who will be the musical act at this year’s show? None other than the Boss himself! According to reports, Bruce Springsteen has just been chosen to rock the crowd in Tampa this February. If you consider the other recent half-time acts, like Prince and Paul McCartney, the Super Bowl is pretty much showcasing some Rock n Roll Hall of Fame type of artists. I wonder who they’ll get after the Boss.
