Kris Allen was called the dark horse of the competition and was clearly the underdog, but in the greatest upset in American Idol history since Chris Daughtry was eliminated, Kris Allen was named as season 8’s winner. When everyone from the judges to the producers to even Kris Allen himself thought that Adam Lambert was going to win, being announced as the winner was a big shock. I was rooting for Kris Allen to win but I was still shocked when he was announced as the winner. I was already thinking that there was a landslide vote for Adam Lambert. It goes to show that you really can’t underestimate the power of a fans.
American Idol couple David Cook and Kimberly Caldwell was spotted together after sharing a romantic lunch in Santa Monica, California last week. The 25-year old American Idol champ recently sat down with EW.com about his self-titled debut album which will hit stores on November 18. He talked about his so-called rivalry with runner up David Archuleta, his single ‘Light On’ and even his comparison to Chris Daughtry. Of the comparison, he said “I didn’t let it get to me on the show, and I see no reason to let it get to me afterward. I just think this record is me, and if people want to compare it to Daughtry, awesome.”
Chris Daughtry is one of the most successful American Idol alums in years yet the rocker is now trashing the show which made him famous.
Chris says to Rolling Stone “I feel like [American Idol] it’s definitely lacking some credibility at this point. It’s in a state of decline and if they don’t do something about it, it’s probably not gonna last too much longer. I’m sure that’ll be used against me, but that’s the truth, you know? People get tired of seeing people that suck. It’s funny at first, but come on. They spend three weeks on people that can’t sing, and that’s what they’re banking it on. [They should] find some people that you can really invest in.”
‘National Treasure: Book of Secrets’ is a hit movie. You can bet that all songs that are attached to the soundtrack of it would be hits too but not when you’re name happens to be Chris Daughtry. The American Idol alum who did better than everyone else thought that he was going to have a song featured in the hit flick but Variety is reporting that it got cut just before the movie was released.
Disney music chief Mitchell Leib comments on the cut saying “It’s a great song, and probably could have been a good marketing tool, but when we put it up with the movie, it just felt wrong.” Daughtry’s song was supposed to play during the end credits.
