It seems that the guys from Coldplay don’t really want to do their Christmas album by the books and want to have an entirely original approach. So there won’t be any children’s choirs or other some such things. This is what Johnny Buckland, the band’s guitarist, had to say in an interview in response to Chris Martin asking about throwing out his lyrics: “About the reindeer and stuff? It’s been done before. A children’s choir, that’s a no-go, and sleigh bells. There is a fine line between good and cheese.” A very fine line indeed… but does Coldplay have what it takes to spot it? That question will be answered soon enough.

Unlike Jessica Simpson who’s had a rough week with her Christmas album, Josh Groban is celebrating the holiday early. The singer must be feeling the love this week as not only is his new album “Illumination” at the number 9 spot on the Billboard top 200 but his classic Christmas album “Noel” climbed back to number 18 as well. That’s two albums on the chart in one week. Congratulations to Josh for achieving such success. Jessica should be taking notes from this guy if she wants to resurrect her music career. Josh clearly knows what he’s doing and she’s just lost.

The singer who was supposedly very saddened by the fact that her former boyfriend, Nick Lachey, recently got engaged to Vanessa Minnillo is actually feeling quite the opposite. This is what Jessica Simpson had to say about Nick Lachey engagement: “I am extremely, extremely happy for him. I don’t know where all those rumors came from. My mom actually called me and said that everyone was saying that I was ‘saddened.’ I was just in complete shock. I couldn’t be more happy for Nick.” It’s a lot better for Jessica Simpson to just burry the hatchet on this one. After all, she has her own personal happiness to ruin now.

Rihanna will be singing ‘A Child is Born’ on the upcoming Christmas compilation CD, ‘NOW Christmas Vol. 4’. The Barbadia R&B singer definitely brings some island flavor to a Christmas song. Other tracks included on the album are Lady Gaga’s ‘Christmas Tree’, Britney Spears’ ‘My Only Wish (This Year)’, and Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’. Apparently, Jessica Simpson is planning to take the Mariah Carey route by releasing a holiday album this year because no one will buy anything else she releases. The failed singer and actress announced on Twitter “I’m making another Christmas record!!!!!!!!! My BF @mcstephyblanche just made my office a winter wonderland! I’m SO inspired!” I hope she knows that just because decorations for Christmas are up doesn’t mean that Santa Claus would come any faster. And I sure hope that she knows that Santa doesn’t exist at all. If not, the poor girl will be crushed. She might be more crushed about that than the fact that no one cares about her attempts at a music career.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban took their daughter, Sunday Rose, to a children’s Christmas Mass in Sydney.
Kidman and Urban were not accompanied by security when they stepped into the St Francis Xavier Church in Lavendar Bay for a 5.30pm children’s Mass on Christmas Eve.
Urban shunted one-year-old Sunday straight to the top of the church where children assemble around the altar. A church tradition sees the little ones dressed as shepherds and angels.
“He was obviously so very happy. It was very cute – he was helping her to gesture to Nicole [who was among the congregation] as you do. There was no paraphernalia, no bodyguards. It was really refreshing to see them there,” said a parishioner.
The Mass was said by Father Paul Coleman, who married the Urbans in Manly in 2006 at the Cardinal Cerretti Chapel.

Believe it or not, Billy Ray Cyrus has gotten himself a job that doesn’t involve his daughter Miley Cyrus. And here I thought that he was going to ride the Disney star’s coattails forever. It was recently announced that the country singer turned TV dad will be doing a movie without Miley. The project is a made for TV Hallmark Channel Christmas movie about “a friendship between two boys — black and white — in 1960s Texas as they bond over concern for a wounded puppy.” He may have gotten his own job but that doesn’t mean that it was a good gig.

Beyonce looked glamorous in Donna Karan as she performed for the 2008 Christmas in Rockefeller Center which aired on NBC last week. Joining the 27-year old triple threat to light the world’s most famous Christmas Tree in New York City was her sister Solange Knowles, Miley Cyrus, Faith Hill, Rascall Flatts, Tony Bennett and David Cook. Britney Spears was supposed to be there to perform or at least appear but she ended up just filming a segment for the TV special. Oh well, at least she still made good on being on the card instead of just canceling on them.
