Coldplay concerts smell bad

Even if fans prefer more intimate concerts in order to be able to see their idols up close, there are artists who are afraid of concerts in small spaces. Chris Martin, lead singer of the band Coldplay, fears that fans can feel the smell of his sweat when he’s on stage. Chris Martin said in an interview that he’d rather play in a stadium than in a small space, because he does not want the audience to feel bad odors coming from the stage. “In a restricted space, people can smell you better, which is a bad thing,” admitted Chris Martin. “On the stadium is in some ways, easier, because no one will feel offended because of the smell you emanate” he said. Despite this, the musician says he prefers more intimate concerts when he wants to see his favorite artists.

Coldplay Rocks Rio

Coldplay had their chance to represent the UK in Brazil when the British rock band took the main stage at the Rock in Rio music festival this past weekend. The band performed their best known hits in front of thousands of concertgoers, playing “The Scientist”, “Clocks”, “In My Place” and “Viva La Vida”, as well as their new single “Paradise”. I am blown away at how all those people were singing along with the band. I really hope I can catch Coldplay in concert soon. I want to feel that energy live. I’m pretty sure I’ll get goosebumps when I do.

New Song from Coldplay – Paradise

Coldplay has selected the song “Paradise” to serve as the official second single to come off of their fifth studio album “Mylo Xyloto”. The track sounds very pop and catchy as compared to the rock band’s first single “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”. It’s fantastic! I think Coldplay can achieve better results with this new single. Some may argue that this is not a very Coldplay track but you have to understand that it’s been years since they hit the scene. They’re allowed to experiment and evolve with their music. I like it and I wish them success with it. What do you think?

Coldplay on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Coldplay rocked the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night with an energetic mini concert. The British rock band didn’t perform from the late night TV show’s studios but live from the Los Angeles Tennis Center at UCLA. The gig was an actual paid concert but ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live got the green life to broadcast two performances on TV, which were “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” and the new song called “Charlie Brown”. I’ve also found some fan recorded videos from the concert for the performances of “In My Place” and “The Scientist”. In related news, be on the lookout for Coldplay’s fifth studio album this October.

Coldplay Album Gets Pushed Back

Coldplay fans will have to listen to the rock band’s previous albums to tide them over as reports say that the release of some new music has been pushed back from May/June to October this year. So far, only two song titles have been released from their upcoming album. The songs are called “Princess of China” and “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”. But before you get all depressed a rep for the band has said that the rumors of a delay are not true. I wonder what gives. It’s been three years since I heard something new from them. Don’t keep up waiting long.

Coldplay don’t want any children’s choirs

It seems that the guys from Coldplay don’t really want to do their Christmas album by the books and want to have an entirely original approach. So there won’t be any children’s choirs or other some such things. This is what Johnny Buckland, the band’s guitarist, had to say in an interview in response to Chris Martin asking about throwing out his lyrics: “About the reindeer and stuff? It’s been done before. A children’s choir, that’s a no-go, and sleigh bells. There is a fine line between good and cheese.” A very fine line indeed… but does Coldplay have what it takes to spot it? That question will be answered soon enough.

Coldplay Concept Album in the Works

Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin recently revealed that the band’s as-yet-untitled upcoming work will be a concept album, with a specific theme running throughout each of the tracks. The rock star explained “It’s from the point of view of two people who are a bit lost. Two like-minded outsiders who meet in a very difficult environment and therefore have a journey together. It’s a concept album but it’s supposed to be very personal within a big framework. Does that make sense? I’m so lucky that we have that group, in as much as there are a lot of people who don’t like us in the world, but there would be a lot more without this filtering system. Think of the rubbish that doesn’t get out, if you don’t like the stuff that does.” If anyone could pull this off, it would be them.

Coldplay Does Charity

Coldplay has announced that they will be performing two Christmas shows in Liverpool and Newcastle to benefit Crisis, a charity in the UK that helps the homeless. The concerts, which have been dubbed ‘Hidden Gigs’, will be on the 19th and 20th of December in Liverpool and Newcastle respectfully, and tickets go on sale this Friday. All of the proceeds will go to the Crisis organization. Also 200 tickets, plus meet and greet tickets will go up for auction after the general sale. It sounds like a very nice way to kick off Christmas. I admire the band for doing this.

Chris Martin injures himself while surfing

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has a cast on his foot after reportedly injuring himself in a surfing accident.

The Viva La Vida singer was spending time in the Hamptons area in New York last week when he hurt his right ankle while hitting the waves,

The husband of Gwyneth Paltrow holidayed in the area in between recording sessions for the band’s new album.

The 33-year-old has now been left with a plaster cast on his foot.

Chris Martin and Gary Barlow in an artistic duel

The two singers, Chris Martin from Coldplay and Gary Barlow from recently reunited Take That, have apparently entered a bit of a duel as to which of them is the better artist. A source said this about this little conflict: “It was all on jest as they’ve developed a surprisingly strong friendship despite being from very different pop and rock worlds. Each has racked up plenty of famous songs, but they eventually decided to call it even.” They probably called it even only for the time being… the battle has just begun! Still, statistically, Take That are way ahead of Coldplay so, at least for the moment, Chris Martin better swallow it and bow down to his new lord and master!

2008 global chart king is Coldplay

Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends the Coldplay album from last year has topped the charts for being the best selling album of 2008 worldwide as per figure compiled in the month of January. The second stop was grabbed by veteran rockers AC/DC who released Black Ice their 15th studio album.

According to IFPI, the world’s body that represents the recording industry worldwide the band sold 6.8 million copies for the period ended 2008. Gee man these are really awesome figures yet papers and the internet rarely cover artist as much as they would cover Britney Spears, Madonna or a Jay-Z.

But for understandable reason Britney Spears and Madonna or for that matter Jay-Z are covered extensively because apart from the great music they make they also have a lot of things going on in their personal lives which make them interesting character to know and read about.

While groups like Radiohead and Coldplay are pure entertainers as in they create great music and then do their bit for album publicity but their private life isn’t a gossip topic in every tabloid.

Alex James, bassist in “The Blur”, owned a record company with a few friends back in the nineties and he recently stated that they didn’t sign a record deal with Coldplay back then because they considered them just ordinary. Alex James’ exact words were: “I went to see Coldplay with Damien Hirst and Joe Strummer – my fellow record company executives – and we all thought they were ordinary and passed on them. I think everyone did, except Parlophone, just like what happened with The Beatles – and Blur!” And the whole fortune went down the drain for Alex James and his buddies, apparently. So sad… oh well, who could’ve predicted that the general market would be interested in ordinary bands with ordinary songs that have nothing to stand out with? Who indeed…
