Country sweetheart Taylor Swift will be pouring some sugar on CMT’s popular ‘Crossroads’ show. If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically a show that gets a band/musician from two different genres to do a performance together. Taylor is set to rock out with old school English rock band Def Leppard. She’s excited about it saying “Every time I’ve seen Crossroads on CMT I’ve always thought, ‘If I ever get to do one of those, it HAS to be with Def Leppard!,’ so this is really a dream come true for me. I have been screaming the words to Def Leppard songs for years… so it’s amazing that I’m going to get to share a stage with them this year!” Their concert will tape in October and will premiere on the channel in November.

What a difference a day makes in the life of Amy Winehouse. She looked almost innocent before flying to her Saturday night Glastonbury gig.

But last night she was back at her London clinic after a shambolic gig that included punching a fan in the face as she left the stage to sing.

She had begun confident but got forgetful, slurry and angry – making me wonder if there was something in the drink she was sipping. As she rambled between songs, spat and called Kanye West rude names, the crowd turned on her.

The police received no complaints and last night said there would be no investigation.

Meanwhile backstage, White Stripes rocker Jack White raved: “Amy’s a treasure, the Janis Joplin of our generation. The crowd don’t appreciate her.”

Mates feared the stress of Glasto could get Amy back on drugs after two weeks of detox. Judging from her antics, it seems their fears may be realized.

The Norwegian media has reported that Pete Doherty has cancelled his concert at the Hove Festival in Norway last week. Who would want to see his band perform anyway? The reason for the cancellation was that Pete said that he was too tired to perform at the event. Sources are also saying that aside from canceling his performance at the festival, Pete will also be canceling his shows for the rest of the year. For the sake of all sane music lovers out there, I am praying to the high heavens that it’s true. It sucks for his band mates though.

Pete Doherty missed his Paris concert on Thursday because the Eurostar train he was supposedly on got delayed for 4 hours. Eurostar officials said that the rocker’s train was due in Paris at 9:20 PM Thursday but arrived at 2:13 AM Friday due to a technical problem. Obviously, that was too late for Pete to make the show. If he was performing in the evening, why would he be on a train that was due to arrive at past 9 in the evening in the first place? I’m not that stupid. I’m pretty sure it was all just an excuse. It was nice of Eurostar to speak for him though.

Here´s one showbiz partnership I didn’t see coming . . .

Kiefer Sutherland has become best mates with British band The Feeling, and will direct their next video.

The 24 actor can’t get enough of their quirky pop and has joined them for all-night tear-ups.

Frontman Dan Gillespie Sells says Kiefer, who manages bands under his own record label Ironworks, is more than just a superfan now. He said: “Kiefer’s a huge music lover and we consider him a friend. We make time for each other and whenever he comes to London we meet for a drink.”

And Kiefer is always keen for a jam. As well as having a studio in his incredible LA apartment, the London-born star also has a 130-strong electric guitar collection.

After spending time with the band Kiefer now wants to direct the video for either album title track Join With Us or Turn It Up.

Dan says, “He likes us because he gets where we are coming from.”

Last week the five-piece performed to 7,000 snow lovers on the piste in the ski resort of Meribel, France, to celebrate where it all started for them.

Dan said: “We used to play ten gigs a week in Meribel. We have quite a big fan base out there.”

Their latest gigs were filmed as part of the band’s new documentary, due to be aired in November.

And Kiefer was never going to let this Feeling-based opportunity pass him by – he will do the voiceover for the programme. Dan added: “He pretty much wants to get involved with it all, which is fine with us.”

They should give him a wig and make him the band’s sixth member.

avril-lavigne.jpg

Avril Lavigne kicked off her world tour in Canada on Thursday night. And if the ticket sales are anything to go by, you know it sucked. But if you’re still an Avril believer, the reviewer for the Victoria Times Colonist who admitted to liking her music only had this to say: “For the most part, I like Lavigne’s music and have taken it upon myself to argue the point repeatedly to the non-fans who will listen. But Wednesday night wasn’t an occasion I would go on the record for with unwavering support. Granted, it was the opening night of her world tour - which includes 15 dates in Canada - but the so-billed Best Damn Tour wasn’t even the Somewhat OK Damn Tour; it was just plain disappointing. ” Ouch!

Pussycat Doll Leaves

Nicole Scherzinger just came back to the Pussycat Dolls and then another has to go. Sources say that Carmit Bachar has “gone on to pursue other projects”. No matter what happens, it looks like PCD is going to remain a 5-girl group – unless of course they do another reality show to replace Carmit. I wonder if Nicole’s return to the group had anything to do with Carmit’s departure. And what other projects is Carmit going to do? It’s not like there are a lot of gigs being offered to trannies like her these days. Nevertheless, we will miss you Carmit!

Pete Doherty’s Cash

Pete Doherty sings for the rock group Babyshambles but it looks like it’s his bank account that’s in shambled. Pete made a measly $60,000 last year. His drug bill is probably double that amount! He must have gotten screwed somewhere along the way because he really should have made more than that as he and his band hit the UK charts at #5 and Pete scored modeling gigs for Dior and Goi Goi. Unfortunately, Pete didn’t tap into live shows which are big money makers for musicians. His band hardly made any money after poor ticket sales, lukewarm reviews, expensive crew costs and Pete’s missed shows due to court appearances and rehab.

Pete Doherty missed a gig

When Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty missed a gig; apparently because he felt unwell; he was replaced by a fan from the audience. Doherty disappointed thousands of fans by pulling out of the gig just hours before the gig at the NME Awards lunch party in London. Strangely guitarist Mick Whitnall, Pete’s right-hand man, was also absent. They must both have the same hangover…

But bravely the rest of the band still went on. After appealing to the audience for help, 18 year old Jamie Bell from Newcastle saved the day by jumping up on stage and doing a very good stand in job. He knew all the words and how to play the songs on guitar. He received rapturous applause from the crowd when they finished

Well done Jamie. I’m sure for him it was a dream come true and I bet the press are still pushing to find out more about the talented guy. Maybe it’ll be his big break. As for Pete we think it’s shameful what you did – and with an excuse not worthy of the teacher too. Bah!

Blake Lewis Wants an Older Woman

For those of you wondering, Blake is still on the market - and on the prowl.

He recently told MSNBC that, since being an American Idol finalist, he’s been pursued by older women. And quite honestly, he wouldn’t mind settling down with one of them.

“I got a little bit of that, some cougars definitely….I love older women, so it was fantastic.”

He’s even gotten some antique negligee thrown at him during shows. “I finally got my first pair of panties and they were huge gigantic grandma panties. It was awesome.” Umm, someone must really like Blake and his beatboxing self.

For the Blake fans out there, his album Audio Day Dream is in stores December 4.

Umm, and Blake? I’d like my panties back please.

singer-prince.jpg
Prince has kicked off a series of shows at London’s O2 arena with a string of hits and two scantily-clad dancers. He started his first performance at the former Millennium Dome with the classic Purple Rain. “I got more hits than Madonna’s got kids”, joked the 49-year-old singer during the two-and-a-half hour set. Oh don’t you worry Prince, by the time you think of winding up your music career, you would still be having an edge over Madonna in terms of one of hits. He has claimed the tour will be the last time fans will ever hear him play his greatest hits. Well now that is something I would surely contest with him, like last time, you do want to fall back behind Madonna. She shall be producing kids and hits at a faster rate than you can match Prince. So the only remedy is stick to what you do best, keep singing and let us pull the numbers for your gigs.

queens-of-stone-age1.jpg

Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme has declared that dancing onstage with a dwarf is his career highlight so far.

The incident happened at a show a few years ago, when due to a really pumped up crowd the small gig-goer ended up being tossed onto the stage.

“I remember one time when somebody threw a dwarf onstage. That was pretty weird,” admitted Homme. “He got up and started to dance, while I just lost my sh-t laughing.”

However, all did not end well for the diminutive stage-invader, as the frontman recalled.

“Then he tried to jump back in the crowd,” said Homme, “and he fell off the monitor and went crashing headfirst into the security barrier.”

'Overpriced' Barbara Streisand Gig Is Pulled
There’s no excuse for greed! But also there is no end to greed as well. Till there are listeners who are willing to pay exhobirant prices to view a stage show of aritst till then there shall be such issues. Barbara Streisand has cancelled a gig in Rome next month – the same show that caused an outcry from its ‘overpriced’ tickets. Now, concert promoters have revealed that the show has been axed over unforeseen delays. They denied that the cancellation had anything to do with the ticket pricing protest. What ever the promoters and the organizers have to say about the issue, they cannot make a fool out of the public and fans by giving lame excuses. We know that there is no end their greed and the reps of Barbara would have had a big say in the singer cancelling the show. Her concert might have been a sell out in England and Germany but some people just have to put up a fight against the over priced tickets.
