Coldplay and their record label are giving the little people a chance to open for the group in San Jose, Chicago, Philadelphia, Hartford, Washington DC and Boston by entering an online contest. To enter, bands need to submit an original performance via YouTube. But before you enter, read the fine print closely as your YouTube performance can be used in ways that you’re not happy with and you won’t be able to do anything about it. There’s even a rule that the record company can place your song on a compilation album and they wouldn’t be required to pay a cent. Also, by submitting you performance, the record label has the exclusive option to sign your band to a crappy deal. Coldplay may be a big band but they’re not worth selling your soul.

Steven Tyler recently issued a statement about his recent stint in rehab. The Aerosmith front man claims that his trademark athletic performances injured his feet, requiring surgery and causing him a bunch of pain. He said “The doctors told me the pain in my feet could be corrected but it would require a few surgeries over time. The ‘foot repair’ pain was intense, greater than I’d anticipated. The months of rehabilitative care and the painful strain of physical therapy were traumatic. I really needed a safe environment to recuperate where I could shut off my phone and get back on my feet. Make no mistake, AEROSMITH has no plans to stop rocking. There’s a new album to record, then another tour.”

The Jonas Brothers are now on the road on their new summer tour which began in Glasgow, Scotland. The band of brothers seems to be having loads of fun that they decided to update their blog every day. They posted a blog entitled ‘First Concert’ about the stop in Glasgow talking about the whole day – from the fans waiting outside their hotel from morning until night time to whom they gave free tickets to, the concert starting late because of the amount of people coming in, to reminiscing to what it was like opening for someone else or having just a few people show up to their shows. I guess it was a humbling experience for them.

Madonna performed at another private showcase to promote her new album ‘Hard Candy’ at the Olympia concert hall stage in Paris, France on Tuesday. In an interview with the Associated Press, the Queen of Pop talked about the collaboration process on her new album saying “I thought of it as a true and equal collaboration. … I like to think that when you listen to the record, you don’t just go, ‘Oh, that is a Timbaland record or that’s Pharrell (of the Neptunes).’ That you hear it and you go, ‘There is something new and different about it’.” And yet it’s pretty obvious which is which’s work.

It seems that the Jonas Brothers have caught the reality bug. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the band of brothers will star in their own reality TV show soon. The show is tentatively titled ‘Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream’ and it will provide an intimated look at Kevin, Joe and Nick on their current ‘Look Me in the Eyes’ tour. Viewers will get exclusive backstage access of the teens - watch rehearsals, travel on the bus and perform. You can even see moments of the brothers with their parents and younger brother Frankie. The show is said to air on Spring 2008. A scripted live-action spy comedy series is also said to be in the works.

Singer Josh Groban was spotted when he made a stop by Urth Caffe on Tuesday. The 27-year old sing had a tour scheduled in South Africa. Unfortunately, some logistical difficulties have come up leading to the postponement of the first concert originally slated for March 16 as conflicts with the tour promoter in South Africa continue to exist. But I am looking forward to returning very soon and giving my fans the experience they deserve.”

Rihanna once again proves that she’s a good girl gone bad when she performed on stage in a red and black number at the RDS Arena on Wednesday in Dublin, Ireland. This was the Barbadian singer’s first performance after she shook up the internet with the recent pool shots of her and Chris Brown having a romantic vacation. Chris is one very lucky guy. He gets to see that whenever he may want to. The hearts of girls all over the world are breaking and the minds of guys are racing. What a visual to have in your head, huh?

Rock icon Eric Clapton has been invited to play a concert in the North Korean capital Pyongyang, an official at the country’s UK embassy has confirmed. If he accepts, the 62-year-old will become the first Western rock star to perform in the Communist country.
According to newspaper reports Clapton has agreed in principle to the concert, suggesting it takes place in 2009.
News of the invitation follows the New York Philharmonic Orchestra’s landmark concert in the North Korean capital. The North Korean State Symphony Orchestra is due to perform in the UK later this year.
According to embassy officials, an appearance by Clapton would be “a good opportunity for Western music to be understood better by Koreans”.
A spokesman told the BBC the invitation had been received by the singer’s management and brought to his attention. The singer’s management, however, would not confirm the approach.
Kim Jong Chol, the son of national leader Kim Jong Il, is said to be a Clapton fan.

Velvet Revolver rocked the 944 Super Village in Scottsdale, Arizona this week where an eclectic group of stars showed the band a lot of love. Spotted in the crowd were future ‘Indiana Jones’ star Shia LeBeouf who was extra touchy-feely with a hot brunette on the dance floor, Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am who took down some digits from a couple of ladies, Juliet Lewis who was dressed semi-normal for the likes of her and two drummers from two other amazing bands like Velvet Revolver, System of a Down’s John Dolmayan and No Doubt’s Adrian Young. There’s nothing like learning how to tear up the stage from Slash and the rest of the boys.

It looks like someone forgot to pay the electric bill. The Spice Girls ended their concert in silence on Wednesday night when, during their final song ‘Spice Up Your Life’, the confetti or something blew out the sound system. Well that’s really peculiar. The ladies kept on singing though while looking around awkwardly for the last two minutes. Some concertgoers in Boston say that they had a great time at the show despite the not so little glitch at the end of the night. I’m sure they would be saying otherwise had it happened at the start of the show.

The photos may not be of good quality but don’t you dare mistake the blurry images for an illusion. The New Kids on the Block are definitely back – three of them at least. After on again/off again rumors that the boy band that spawned all boy bands would be hanging tough once more, paparazzi caught Donnie, Joey and Jordan hanging out with a fan in the ATL airport while they were on their way to boy band land, Orlando, Florida. Sources are saying that it’s where they’re establishing their base to work on some new music. It look like the reunion is definitely on.

Despite recently claiming he wanted to get back into the music business and prove that former bandmates Take That are not better than him; Robbie Williams seems to have had a change of heart. Looking chubby and out of shape, the Rudebox star says he may never hit the road again claiming the last tour almost killed him. He has also said that he may not even release a proper album this year.
The reason behind this seems to be that Robbie is enjoying the recluse lifestyle too much. He says, “I do have to say, the more time I’m spending away from public life, the more I like it. Unfortunately I have a massive competitive urge that wants me to put out three albums a year. Which one will win? I’m sure as soon as I get bored I’ll be back. But right now there’s a soy vanilla latte and mince pie waiting for me in the kitchen.”
Robbie is clearly in a quandary about whether to hang up his mic for good. He was recently spotted with a ridiculous hermits beard and admitted, “Christmas was a glutton feast - I neither fit into my pop star trousers or my bed for that matter.”

I’m pretty sure that they would have preferred one of his exes in a bikini stripping to one of his songs, but what they got wasn’t really that bad. For the second year in a row, Kid Rock spent the holidays with the soldiers overseas.
The rocker went on a massive USO tour and did 13 shows in 7 different countries in 5 days. That has to be one of the most tiring string of shows he’s had. It’s pretty awesome if you ask me. Rock on Kid and rock on troops! Our thoughts and warm wishes go to everyone away from their loved ones this holiday season.

Hold on to your seats what I am about to say may knock your socks off. Babyshambles singer, Pete Doherty is well known as being a drunk and a junkie. So you can imagine the amazement felt by fans when he showed up SOBER for a recent gig; refusing offers of booze before gracing the stage.
Yes that’s right. Pete Doherty. Sober.
Admittedly he has revealed a new addiction – to mince pies. Hmm, an odd one indeed, but undoubtedly better for him than his usual tipple.
However I am sure bookies are already taking bets on how long this lasts. Mince pies don’t exactly have the same effect as cocaine and alcohol I am sure of it. Watch this space and we shall see….

Fergie was a performer at the 2007 ‘A Home for the Holidays’ concert which was held on Sunday at the RENMAR studios in Los Angeles.Speaking of being home for the holidays, the 32-year old Black Eyed Peas front woman was home with her 35-year old boyfriend Josh Duhamel for Thanksgiving. Hopefully, the couple will be together at home for Christmas as well.
I wonder what they’ll be giving each other for Christmas. They pretty much have everything and with the success they have on each of their plates, they can get whatever they want and give whatever they want.

When Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty missed a gig; apparently because he felt unwell; he was replaced by a fan from the audience. Doherty disappointed thousands of fans by pulling out of the gig just hours before the gig at the NME Awards lunch party in London. Strangely guitarist Mick Whitnall, Pete’s right-hand man, was also absent. They must both have the same hangover…
But bravely the rest of the band still went on. After appealing to the audience for help, 18 year old Jamie Bell from Newcastle saved the day by jumping up on stage and doing a very good stand in job. He knew all the words and how to play the songs on guitar. He received rapturous applause from the crowd when they finished
Well done Jamie. I’m sure for him it was a dream come true and I bet the press are still pushing to find out more about the talented guy. Maybe it’ll be his big break. As for Pete we think it’s shameful what you did – and with an excuse not worthy of the teacher too. Bah!

After a cyclone swept through Bangladesh, the place was left a big mess with hundreds of thousands left homeless. In efforts to give whatever help they can give, the band Linkin Park and other musicians are getting together to sell a bunch of stuff on eBay with 100% of the proceeds going to Music for Relief.
Music for Relief’s past good works includes raising over $2 million for the victims of the tsunami, and hurricanes Katrina and Rita. On sale at the eBay auction are Avril Lavigne’s singed tank top, Linkin Park concert tickets and a signed Smashing Pumpkins poster.

If you are famous, you shouldn’t really make it a habit to become involved with a crazed fan. Especially not one that has stolen from your house for drug money. But then, Pete Doherty is not exactly a typical famous person.
Junkie groupie Amelie Windel stole a painting from Pete’s den and tried to sell it on eBay. Apparently, Pete Doherty has an understanding towards junkies doing anything to get their hands on drug money; being an addict himself; and would usually turn a blind eye. However not this time. Instead he called up the thief, disputing her behaviour. She apologised and handed back the painting; but her antics had sparked an interest in him.
Now in a bizarre turn of events, they are an item - with Pete parading his new young lover backstage at Babyshambles’ recent Wembley concert.
So crazed fans; be aware. Pete has been known to take a soft spot on those who act upon their obsessions. Weird huh?

He recently split with his publicist of 14 years and now, R. Kelly is splitting with another co-worker. The singer who’s been accused of child pornography is about to go on tour when one of his openers, R&B singer Ne-Yo, was suddenly removed. Kelly’s camp said that the lack of a signed contract was the reason for the younger singer to get dumped. Ne-Yo’s camp made a press released saying that the singer “expressed genuine concern regarding not having the opportunity to complete the tour.”Kelly has been known to having some problems while on tour. Back in 2004, he and Jay-Z’s tour ended after Kelly got pepper sprayed by a member of Jay’s entourage. Looks like someone’s a big diva.

250 fans attending a charity concert in London were surprised as U2 members Bono and The Edge gave an unannounced performance.
The stars showed up unplanned and performed as a warmup act at the fundraiser. The concert was hosted by Mencap, a charity that seeks equal rights for children and adults with learning disabilities.
Bono laughingly warned fans not to tell the other two U2 band members about the impromptu concert. “Don’t tell Larry (Mullen) and Adam (Clayton) we’ve done this.”
Bono and The Edge, serving as an opening act for Scottish rock group Biffy Clyro, played four songs - “Stay”, “Desire”, “Angel of Harlem”, and “Wave of Sorry”. They lit up the small stage at Union Chapel in London.
Fans were shocked when the stars appeared onstage and were thrilled to be able to see them. One fan stated,”I’ve used all the battery on my phone taking pictures of them.”
Next time, U2 should call ahead so ticket prices can be doubled!

Grammy award winning hard rock band, Velvet Revolver, have been denied visas for their upcoming tour in Japan. The band had been due to perform four concerts between November 26 and November 30 in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Yokohama to promote its current album “Libertad”. However Japanese immigration officials have taken exception to the “colourful backgrounds” of some of the band members.
Velvet Revolver features three members of rowdy rock legends Guns N’ Roses and the Stone Temple Pilots’ volatile former frontman Scott Weiland, who has been arrested several times on drug-related charges.
Under Japanese law anyone with a drug conviction can be refused entry into the country. So that rules out pretty much every rock star ever then…
Japan, if you want decent rock bands to play live concerts you are going to have to consider changing your rules. Ever heard of “turning a blind eye”?

Cult rockers My Bloody Valentine will play their first live gigs in 16 years when they take to the stage in the summer of 2008. Kevin Shields’ British group revealed their tour plans on Thursday, one week after announcing their reunion. The rock icons, which are planning to release a new album before the end of this year, will play gigs in London, Manchester and Glasgow in June and July. The group last played live in 1992, and have been inactive since 1995. They have also been linked to the 2008 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in California.
