American Idol champ David Cook, along with the rest of the Idol finalists, was at CNN studios to get interviewed on Larry King Live. David was asked if he felt relieved that the whole experience was over to which he replied “Yes, in a way. The whole show, the eight-month process from first audition to this, it feels like you’re holding your breath a little bit. And I’ve been asked a few times why I cried at the end. And for me, that was just an exhale, to step back and really think about what just happened. It’s pretty heavy. So, yes, I am relieved, because, now I get to move on to the next phase of all this, which is a record and a tour and all the good stuff.”

Rock icon Eric Clapton has been invited to play a concert in the North Korean capital Pyongyang, an official at the country’s UK embassy has confirmed. If he accepts, the 62-year-old will become the first Western rock star to perform in the Communist country.

According to newspaper reports Clapton has agreed in principle to the concert, suggesting it takes place in 2009.

News of the invitation follows the New York Philharmonic Orchestra’s landmark concert in the North Korean capital. The North Korean State Symphony Orchestra is due to perform in the UK later this year.

According to embassy officials, an appearance by Clapton would be “a good opportunity for Western music to be understood better by Koreans”.

A spokesman told the BBC the invitation had been received by the singer’s management and brought to his attention. The singer’s management, however, would not confirm the approach.

Kim Jong Chol, the son of national leader Kim Jong Il, is said to be a Clapton fan.

Even though the rap scene is pretty much filled with guys rapping about the same things over and over again while having their egos grow bigger by the second, I for one never thought that rap was dead. As long as someone can still make it through an impromptu rap-off, rap is going to live on. But then again, hold that thought.

Larry Kind thought that it was a good idea to end his interview with Snoop Dogg by trying to engage in an impromptu rap-off… to a Frank Sinatra song. It was complete randomness and in my opinion, may have just been the death of rap as I know it.

Red Hot Chili Pepper

So we are all familiar with the Red Hot Chili Pepper’s signature Californication, right? The CD, song, and video are perhaps the highlight of the band’s career. Band members Anthony Kiedis, Michael “Flea” Balzar, John Frusciante, and Chad Smith are not so happy with Showtime’s newest highlight of the same name.

The band believes that Showtime has gone too far by calling their new original series by the same name. Their suit alleges that the show’s title produces “unfair conpetition, dilution of the value of the name, and unjust enrichment.” They feel that the title “Californication” is “inherently distinctive, widely recognized, and immediately associated in the mind of the consumer and those in the trade” with the RHCPs. Their complaint was filed in an L.A. Superior Court.

David Duchovny stars in Showtime’s new release. He is Hank Moody, a writer who moves to L.A., following the sales of movie rights to his book. After his relationship with his girlfriend and daughter fail, he makes himself feel better by “californicating” with anyone he can find who is willing.

The show’s creator Tom Kapinos says he first saw the word “Californicate” used on a 1970s era bumper sticker in Oregon.

The RHCPs are rumored to be receiving their recognition in the form of a gold star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame next year. But, they won’t wait so long for Showtime to answer their suit. They are requesting unspecified damages, restitution, and the profits from the show. Additionally, they are asking that the show be prohibited from using the name in the future. What will happen? We really can’t give it away.

Seal

Somewhere between brain music and body music sits Seal. His enlistment of former dance/electronic artist Stuart Price to produce his fifth full-length doesn’t represent a move in one of those directions. After Seal’s singular baritone—which is getting even more pleasingly throaty as he ages—the songs are the focus here. Some hum and build like good club tracks (”Loaded”); some launch as acoustic guitar pieces and pick up steady kick drums along the way (”Dumb,” album standout “Rolling”). But they’re all melodious, lyrical and as intimate as any singer/songwriter’s sparser work. Even a duet with wife Heidi Klum (”Wedding Day”) is more sweet than saccharine. But the best part: The 10 songs are all strong, and placed in an order that creates an emotional arc, like a real—what’s that word again?

Coheed And Cambria - No World For Tomorrow

Like the Mars Volta, progressive-metal suite freaks Coheed and Cambria are almost too smart and ambitious for their own good –not enough, however, to cancel out the instrumental highs and car-radio-chorus charge of the best songs on their fourth album. No World for Tomorrow is reportedly the concluding episode in a tortuous, apocalyptic libretto by singer-guitarist Claudio Sanchez that connects all of the band’s records. (Coheed and Cambria are named after the lead characters.) But there is more immediate, impressive resolution in the decisive pop arc of the mutating riffs and slippery time signatures Sanchez bundles into “The Hound (of Blood and Rank)” and “The Running Free.” His classic-rock aspirations are all over the razor-guitar hum of “Feathers” (note the shards of Uriah Heep’s 1972 hit single “Easy Livin’ ” rattling around inside) and the harmonized Thin Lizzy-style luster of the guitars and Sanchez’s vocals, like a choir of Geddy Lees, in “Justice in Murder.” Sanchez’s rabbit-hole saga may be over –the album finishes with a five-part, twenty-five-minute exclamation point, “The End Complete” –but there is plenty here that is worthy of rewind.

Common To Leave Rap For Hollywood

Common is planning to ditch his music career for Hollywood, because he feels he will be more successful as an actor than he will ever be as a rapper. With a mug like that, good luck in tinsel town Common or should I say Basic, Ordinary, Regular, Usual, Normal, Standard, Typical, and Regular. Well I know my description here falls shot of being elaborative so tell me speak my mind here about these wholesome good for nothing maniac rappers who glorify the n word usage as if it were praising the citizens of our society for driving out terrorist out of this country. The Hollywood acting scene already has a lot of crap actors and actresses so we can do without his presence. In other terms if he suddenly has a wish to clean up the rap scene and thinks that he is doing the rap world a favor then he has most certainly forgotten that his presence in Hollywood is not welcomed by any of us.

Kid Rock is concerned how his public feud with Tommy Lee is going to affect their children. The rocker, who was charged after punching his love rival Tommy Lee at the MTV VMAs in Las Vegas last month, said he was concerned their feud could affect his 14-year-old son and Tommy Lee’s children he has with actress Pamela Anderson. He should have though of this thing before he fired that blow on Tommy Lee, no that he has done this there is no point to remorse the fact that someday his kid could become a target of revenge of their MTV VMA brawl. But on the other hand if any person for the Tommy Lee camp or his bodyguards attempt to take revenge by the way of harming Kid Rock’s kids then that would be a cowardly acts then it would be appalling of Tommy to do such a heinous act.

Teenage singing star Sean Kingston has topped the UK singles chart for the third week. The 17-year-old Miami reggae singer beat off competition from big stars 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, to hold the spot with Beautiful Girls. That’s what I like about young stars, they are new to the scene yet they are vibrant and full of energy enough to topple the bad old guys of music world to lay claim of the numero uno spot of the charts. Isn’t it amazing to see a young guy come perform and conquer the charts that too for 3 consecutive weeks which means his rise to the top is no fluke and no mean achievement by any standards. He’s blown 50 Cents and Kanye West at the same time to top the charts both of the latter being one of the best in the business and the 17 reggae singer has inched above them at the same time, I hope to see and hear more of this youngster in the future. He looks like a bright prospect.

eddie-vedder-photo.jpg
Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder is still waiting for fatherhood to mellow him, insisting being a dad has made him angrier than ever. The 42-year-old rocker expected middle age and parenthood to end his angst, particularly after his daughter Olivia was born to Vedder’s girlfriend Jill McCormack in 2004. Ok so you got pissed off when a little child peed on your bed, like when he cried all night because he knew that he had a horrible dad for company. Eddie kids are the most innocent creatures on earth; they mean no harm and give you love and only love. If you have such a bad head on your shoulders then lets all get angry with what’s going on and kill each other, come on dude we are powerless of everything around us except ourselves. You are too focused on the ugly and letting the beauty besides you slip by you, like your baby. Everytime you get irked take a ice pack and put it on your head, it will cool u down and let the kid smile.

Kanye West is really rubbing it in 50 Cent’s face. Not only does Kanye have the number one album and the number one single on the charts, he actually has a second single within the top five!

His first single off his latest album climbed back up to #1 this week. His second single ‘Good Life’ is currently sitting at #4 behind 50 Cent’s collaboration with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland ‘Ayo Technology’.

Soulja Boy’s ‘Crank That’, Timbaland’s ‘The Way I Are’, Matchbox Twenty’s ‘How Far We’ve Come’, Caillat’s ‘Colbie Bubbly’, Nickelback’s ‘Rockstar’, Alicia Keys’ ‘No One’ and Maroon 5’s ‘Wake Up Call’ make up the rest of the top 10.

Kanye West probably thinks that he doesn’t need to do any sort of publicity on his new album because well, he’s Kanye West. After getting shut out of all five nominations for the second year in a row Kanye throws a hissy fit tirade backstage at the VMAs this year and swears he will never do anything for MTV again. After watching his bitch ass triad backstage at the VMA. kanye west is a cotton pickin, welfare milking, song stealing, worthless piece of crap ni**er. He’s an embarrassment to black people. I used to like him at one time. He is alienating his fans - not too smart. His last c.d. only had a few good songs and the rest was filler crap. Nobody likes a narcissist, except the narcissist him, Kanye. And who needs him anyways, if he doesn’t want to come back he might well as leave for good, and tell you what he’ll end up coming back and shall be singing and dancing, he won’t go away we all know that, good if he is not seen for a few days, that would be a respite.

Fleetwood Mac star Stevie Nicks enjoyed a secret three-year affair with The Eagles star Joe Walsh and describes the guitarist as her “great, great love”. I think that it’s so sad when people, especially Actor’s feel the need to take drugs. I mean they have everything, can’t they just be happy with what they have. Money, fame, fortune. For a natural hi…they should look in their Bible and find Jesus and his Heavenly Father and that is all happiness they will need. Plus it’s free and safer. But I know we all need love and I wish only the best for Stevie Nicks. I love her music. Even the Eagle’s are awesome. They for many years entertained their fans with unparalleled music but it is always sad to see that some of your idols get involved is such petty things that you have to think whether you still like them or not. Their romance ended because of their drug addictions and Nicks adds, “We were a couple on the way to hell.

I guess Timbaland really had a point in not wanting Britney to perform.

Britney Spears may have been aiming to bring the house down when she opened the MTV Video Music Awards but she did that a completely different way from what she was hoping.

First, she made jaws drop by wearing a skimpy outfit when she pretty much looks like a house. And then it looked as if she was sleepwalking through her entire performance of her single ‘Gimme More’. She looked like jiggling jello rather than a dancer and she couldn’t even lipsynch right when her mouth was barely able to follow the words.

When the camera panned to stars like Rihanna, 50 Cent and Diddy, it was obvious that they weren’t feeling her either.

Brit, your career called. It said it wants its dignity back.

It’s pretty obvious that even if he hasn’t had a good hit in a while, the ladies still love LL Cool J.

Last September 5 was the one-year anniversary party for club Tenjune. An extremely blinged-out and seemingly bigger than ever LL came out and put on a quick performance for the crowd. During his performance, LL took a special liking to one of the club’s dancers from New York City dance troupe Sugar and Spice and was even playing with the elastic band on her booty shorts. The club’s owner also seemed to like LL as he showed off his dances moves in the background.

Later in the evening, ‘Rock of Love’ alum Brandi M was spotted gyrating up on the rapper as he ventured off the stage and worked his way around the crowd.

pablo-montero.jpg

Pablo Montero was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine and driving recklessly, according to police reports.
The Mexican singer and actor, whose legal name is Oscar Hernandez, was stopped by police about 1:30 p.m. Friday for allegedly running a red light in his white BMW sport utility vehicle and then making a left turn from a right-turn only lane. The arrest in Miami Beach came two days after Montero, 38, helped present nominees for this year’s Latin Grammy Awards at a press conference there. Montero was nominated for the category of regional Mexican song.
According to police, Miami Beach officers found a small clear bag in the car that that field tests showed to be cocaine. Montero allegedly told officers the bag belonged to him and not to a passenger driving with him, the police report stated.
The Miami-Dade County Clerk’s Web site on Wednesday stated no information was available on the status of the case, and a message left for the State Attorney’s office was not returned.
An Attorney for Montero could not immediately be reached.
Montero and his girlfriend, Argentinean model Sandra Vidal, are expecting the imminent birth of their first child, a baby boy. Montero said in July he would take a break from his music projects to await the baby’s birth in Los Angeles.

Mick Jagger is backing his son James’ dream to be an actor - after he finally let his dad watch him perform. The Rolling Stones frontman had been banned by his 21-year-old son from watching his stage debut in one-act comedies Lone Star and Private Wars at London fringe theatre the King’s Head. I love the Rolling Stones, the way they play to the crowds and the atmosphere that surrounds their enigma and aura is simply something to see to believe. If James can prove to be even half as successful as his famous father has been for more than 2 and a half decades then he would have accomplished more than what he has set out to do. But there should be no comparisons at all, the competition that James would be facing today is entirely different form what Mick might have faced during the early formation days of the band, and to his advantage the way media and entertainment stands today it give James a whole new world to explore. Just hope James doesn’t act and behave like his dad.
