The Norwegian media has reported that Pete Doherty has cancelled his concert at the Hove Festival in Norway last week. Who would want to see his band perform anyway? The reason for the cancellation was that Pete said that he was too tired to perform at the event. Sources are also saying that aside from canceling his performance at the festival, Pete will also be canceling his shows for the rest of the year. For the sake of all sane music lovers out there, I am praying to the high heavens that it’s true. It sucks for his band mates though.

Kid Rock was hospitalized last week for stomach cramps and dehydration. The rocker was supposed to perform on stage at the UK’s Download Festival Friday. Unfortunately, he had to cancel last minute due to his health condition. A statement from the organizers of the festival says “We’ve had the curse of Download. Kid Rock is not very well — we’ve had to rush him to hospital … he apologizes to his fans.” Maybe he had a case of alcohol poisoning or he was just too hung over as he was reportedly seen at Central London’s Whisky Mist nightclub the night before the concert.

Amy Winehouse has released a statement via her publicist after her embarrassing and unprofessional performance at the Rock in Rio festival in Portugal this past weekend. “Amy was overwhelmed by the goodwill shown by the audience in Lisbon and even apologized for her below par vocals on stage, after suffering from a sore throat all week. She was given the option to cancel, but was determined to take her first step back on to the live scene and although her throat was not at 100 per cent, Amy felt it important for fans to see that she is back working at her craft. She will continue to her comeback at events throughout the summer.” The only craft she’s making is making a fool out of herself.

Prince’s version of Radiohead’s Creep, as performed at this year’s Coachella Festival in April, has been removed from Youtube.

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke is demanding it be put back!

Yorke found the cover to be ‘hilarious’, and on learning that Prince’s record label NPG had removed the footage, joked to Associated Press that it should be put back.

He said “He’s blocked it? Surely we should block it. Hang on a moment. Well, tell him to unblock it. It’s our … song.”

Pete Doherty is to be released early from prison after serving just 29 days of his 14-week sentence.

The singer was jailed last month for breaking the conditions of his probation by refusing to take drug tests following a suspended sentence for heroin posession.

Doherty’s incarceration has led to the cancelling and postponing of several shows, but his early release means that he’ll more than likely be able to appear at this year’s Glastonbury festival as planned. Don’t hold your breath though…

News of the early release has sparked off questions about the special treatment of celebrity law-breakers and the early release of jailbirds in general.

Kelly Osbourne performed during the second day of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival which was held at the Empire Polo Field on Saturday in Indio, California. The 23-year old talked about being at the festival and while she was excited about her performance, she was more excited about hearing some bands. She explained by saying “I’m going for Kraftwerk. I don’t know why. I just want to see them so bad. Coachella is a great place to learn about new bands.” With the plethora of artists out there today, it never hurts too much to experiment on what to listen to and who to watch.

Noel Gallagher told BBC News that Jay-Z is just plain wrong for the famous British festival Glastonbury. The Oasis band member said “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If you start to break it then people aren’t going to go. I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go ‘Kylie Minogue?’ I don’t know about it. But I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.” Noel is pretty sure that Jay’s presence on the bill explains the festival’s mediocre ticket sales this year.
