Singer Moby is back in the studio and he is not using any electronics for his new album. Instead, the electronic music icon is opting for drums, acoustic guitar and piano. He said “I really like trying to record a record with such specific restrictions placed on the creative process. At present the one rule is: no electronics. So everything has to be playable/recordable in the acoustic realm (with microphones). There’s something really satisfying about being in an old studio using old microphones and old pre-amps and an old mixing desk and recording in the way that people recorded 30 and 40 years ago.” I think it sounds like a worthwhile venture but I don’t think he should abandon the genre that gave him all his success.

Things are not looking good for Courtney Love. Last December, her daughter Frances Bean Cobain decided that she has had enough of her mom spending more time babbling incoherently on Twitter and had herself emancipated from the rock singer’s custody. The judge also issued Frances a restraining order against her mom. That restraining order was supposed to have ended recently but the judge extended it to April 9th. Considering all things, Courtney has gotten better. I haven’t had my head hurt from a rambling tweet in a while. However, she still has a long way to go before Frances considers going back to her and rightfully so.

Not to Jamaica at least… the recent rumor that the singer might take her soon-to-be-again husband Blake Fielder-Civil with her to Jamaica has been cleared up as being nonsense by one of Amy Winehouse’s representatives: “He isn’t going out there, no. The whole point of the trip is to record out there, she has a whole album of songs written and has worked on it with Salaam Remi over here and will be over there.” Right… Amy Winehouse probably wasn’t too psyched about this decision but it seems like it’s not her call. I wonder if anybody is holding bets on whether or not she will actually do her work there and what the odds are. Maybe even Blake Fielder-Civil might want to get in on that.

She’s probably the only one though… it seems that Beyonce still can’t wrap her head around how many awards she managed to win at this year’s Grammy Awards. This is what Beyonce said on the matter: “I am still overwhelmed by Grammy night. I can’t believe I set a record. I am so thankful to everyone – my family, my friends, the label. I have worked so hard and it seems that it all paid off in that one night. I am still shaking.” The label had something to do with Beyonce’s success? Strange… awards are usually given for value, not origin, are they not? Well, this certainly explains a few things, now doesn’t it?

Conrad Murray was back in Nevada preparing to pick up his patient list ahead of his pending manslaughter trial in Los Angeles.

Murray was preparing to work from another doctor’s practice, said his spokeswoman Miranda Sevcik. He faces an evidentiary trial in Los Angeles is on April 5.

Sevcik said from Houston: “We’re not sharing the location because the doctor’s primary concern is for his patients’ privacy.”

Murray on Monday was handed a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the homicide death of Michael Jackson, a patient in his care last year. He pleaded not guilty and was released on $75,000 bail on condition he did not administer anaesthesia.

MSNBC reports Murray moved his practice, Global Cardiology Associates, out of a Las Vegas office building in August.

Murray is licensed to practise medicine in Nevada, Texas and California. But the California Medical Board has swiftly moved to get him suspended, with a court hearing on the matter pending.

Douglas Cooper, interim board executive of the Nevada Board of Medical Examiners, said he could not disclose if there were any new investigations involving Murray. “He has an active licence in the state of Nevada,” he said.

It seems some people would do anything for attention these days. John Mayer recently took an interview for Playboy Magazine during which, among other things, he was asked if he had ever kissed a man. This is what John Mayer replied to that: The only man I’ve kissed is Perez Hilton. It was New Year’s Eve and I decided to go out and destroy myself. I was dating Jessica at the time, and I remember seeing Perez Hilton flitting about this club and acting as though he had just invented homosexuality. All of a sudden I thought, I can outgay this guy right now. I grabbed him and gave him the dirtiest, tongue-iest kiss I have ever put on anybody—almost as if I hated fags.” Boy… you’d think John Mayer would want to have some better stories to tell his grandchildren… that is, if they’ll even exist because it seems pretty unlikely at this point.

The front man from Boys Like Girls seems to have taken a bit of a shine to his new duet partner, Taylor Swift. When asked about her, Martin Johnson replied the following: “Taylor Swift is the perfect human being. She’s great. She’s such a nice, wholehearted, sweet girl, and she’s the biggest superstar in the world. My mom would be stoked if I brought her home.” He’s probably just making sure that everybody knows he’s 100% behind his band’s philosophy. Martin Johnson should remember though that if he wants to poke a shot at Taylor Swift there is a height requirement for the ride.

It seems the singer’s latest record was not released on Super Bowl Sunday as intended and isn’t going to see the inside of a store until Usher signs the deal with his management. This is what a source said about Usher’s setback, which is apparently due to him not getting along professionally with his former manager, Jonetta Patton, his own mother: “She walked away from the project because Usher had his girlfriend Grace Miguel all in the mix. She felt as though if she didn’t end things when she did, it would permanently affect their personal relationship.” Way to stick for the family there! Surely Usher appreciates what his mother did for him, making his album late and all that. Guess who’s getting a very special cheese-cake this Mother’s Day?

The singer recently participated in an interview for “Glamour” magazine where she had something very interesting to say about dos and don’ts. This is what Katy Perry said: ambition. I can’t deal when someone dillydallies through life. You’ve got to have drive – that’s so sexy. I don’t care if someone farts or picks his nose, because that’s going to happen in the long run.” Right… Katy Perry’s words might remind everyone of a beloved cartoon character that used too say “Drugs are band, m’kay?” and maybe she’s trying to send out a message that he should’ve been picking his nose while doing so. That’s the closest thing to sense that can probably be made out of Katy Perry’s deep words.

The rapper recently spoke about his infamous arch-rival, the one known as Jay-Z. This is what 50 Cent had to say about a hypothetical confrontation between him and Jay-Z: “Jay-Z’s not smart enough to be afraid of me. We’re big rivals. If it ever came to an actual altercation he’d know what it’s like to be afraid.” But where would all the fun be in that? What kind of epic confrontation would that be if Jay-Z would just be afraid of 50 Cent. There has to be action, chaos, mayhem, 50 Cent should prove that he is the better man… not simply imply it. Is he in some sort of sick contest with Kanye West?

Michael Jackson remains king as the late singer’s concert film ‘This is It’ was the number 1 best selling DVD in the country this past week. An estimated 1.2 million copies have been sold to date, which is believed to be a record for first-week sales of a music film. But could this spell the end of the King of Pop fever? With the DVD out and no more awards shows to pay tribute to his lifetime’s work, will Michael begin to fade out into obscurity now? Unless they release previously unheard of tracks that may just be the case.

While on the Jimmy Kimmel show, some sort of divine inspiration hit Nick Jonas. This particular specter inspired the Jonas Brother to speak about the recordings of “We are the world” and how one of the classic interpreters of the song, namely Bob Dylan, couldn’t hold a tune. Nick Jonas’ brothers must be really proud of him now. Probably having a solo career has made him a bit way too overconfident… it must be that new generation of technical singers that someone was talking about earlier. But, alas, Nick Jonas is still young and impetuous… too bad those excuses won’t work for National TV or for picking on someone like Bob Dylan.

Former Oasis star Liam Gallagher has said his new band will be out later this year.

The 37-year-old singer was part of the popular Britpop band until his brother Noel walked out last year.

Since then, he formed another band with his former Oasis bandmates Gem Archer and Andy Bell.

Gallagher said: “We’ll be on stage this year, mate. Without a doubt. We’re halfway through the record – the demos, that is.

“We’re in the studio this April to see if this producer works out. If he does, we’ll crack on with the album through June and July.”

Nirvana star Kurt Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean is breaking into the music industry.

The 17-year-old star, who recently became independent of her mum Courtney Love, will be singing on a new album by the frontwoman of band Dresden Dolls, Amanda Palmer.

She will be featured on Palmer’s debut, Evelyn Evelyn, which is a collaboration with her bandmate Jason Webley.

Frances Bean will sing on a part with ‘gang vocals’, which means it is unlikely her individual voice will be heard.

The teenager was in the news at the end of last year when she filed a restraining order against her mum after Love lost her guardianship over her.

She now lives with her grandmother and aunt.

Boy, how their surprises seem to just fade into the air because of the internet. It has recently been revealed that Katy Perry is planning a very special gift for her husband-to-be, Russell Brand. A source said the following on the matter: “Katy really thought about this. She’s been talking to a specialist dealership in Newport Beach, California, for weeks now, and it’s all starting to come together. Originally she was planning to buy him an Aston Martin but changed her mind when he spotted a 007 number plate in West Hollywood. She said James Bond wannabes were tasteless. So she asked his friends if he’d like a Bentley and they all said yes.” Well, there goes Katy Perry’s big surprise… even specifics seem to be easily accessed these days. Of course, none of Russell Brand’s buddies are going to spill the beans about his surprise for Katy Perry.

It seems that yet another band’s days have been numbered and logged. Fall Out Boy have reached the end of their road like so many others before them. Patrick Stump, the band’s former front man, had this to say about its demise: “I’m not in Fall Out Boy right now. But one way or another, the band will always be around. Steven Tyler isn’t in Aerosmith anymore, but his gravestone will probably say something about Aerosmith. Whether we play again or not, I don’t know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don’t, it will also be for the right reasons. I’m really not worried about Fall Out Boy. I’m so psyched about where I’m at right now, recording this solo album.” After these words the other members apparently gave in their resignations as well. All that remains now is a name without any members. How sad…

It seems that the former Beatle has finally discovered the higher force that binds and shapes everything in the world… and he’s chosen to call it God. This is what Ringo Starr said on the matter: “I feel the older I get, the more I’m learning to handle life. Being on this quest for a long time, it’s all about finding yourself. For me, God is in my life. I don’t hide from that. I think the search has been on since the 1960s.” Right… well, it’s good to see that Ringo Starr is getting ahead in things. Hopefully he will be able to complete his quest before the Almighty calls him in for the report.

There are loud rumors that Billy Idol could be replacing Steven Tyler as the lead singer for the band Aerosmith. Insiders say that the ‘White Wedding’ singer was set to meet with Joe Perry last week but came down with a bad cold before the big talk. A source said “Joe said he wanted to talk to Billy about joining Aerosmith, because the band were having problems with Steven. As far as I know Idol did not show up due to having a cold.” I don’t know what to think about this. Billy replacing Steven could either be the most brilliant idea or the stupidest one.

Rock band Kings of Leon won the award for Record of the Year for their hit song ‘Use Somebody’ at the 2010 Grammy Awards which was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday. In a somewhat comical speech, lead singer Caleb Followill accepted the award saying “I’m not going to lie, we’re all a little drunk. But we’re happy drunks.” With a Grammy in your hand, who wouldn’t be happy? Congratulations to the band on their win! I’m pretty sure that the celebration didn’t stop with just a few shots. I’m pretty sure the celebration would go on for a while.

Pink was nearly naked while she performed the song ‘Glitter in the Air’ at the 2010 Grammy Awards which was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday. She started out pretty tame but then Pink shocked the audience members by only wearing white straps over a flesh colored body suit. Thank the heavens for those carefully placed sequins. The 30-year old pop rock singer performed while suspended and spinning in the air. I’ll give it to her though, her costume fit the performance and everybody absolutely loved it. She has guts for wearing that and doing what she did on the show.
