Limited edition of only 750 copies printed - this copy is unnumbered. With a frontispiece engraving of Poe. Subjects include Washington Irving, L.H. From 2024 the Foreword: "No writer of modern times had pushed research to a greater extent on this interesting subject of autograph, than Edgar Allan Poe. The following remarks on the handwriting and character of several of our American literati, were written and published many years ago by the late Mr. Poe, but for some reason were omitted from the collected works of that ingenious and brilliant author, by his editor."

Condition:
Clean covers and spine; some very light wear to the corners; bright gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice pages - clean with only some foxing at the outer margin of pages 34, 35 and 51. Tanning along the perimeter of the frontispiece from the tissue paper over it. Overall the book is in very good condition. The dust jacket has a tiny tear and small stain at the bottom of the spine, and a larger stain at the top of the spine...the stains are from strips of adhesive on the back of the jacket (the adhesives may be part of the clear dust jacket protective sleeve, not shown).
