Hand 2024 Turned English Walnut Bowl

This bowl has a unique profile on the outside that accentuates the swirling grain patterns in the wood. 2024 It is taken from a block of English walnut crotch wood (formed at the junction of the main trunk and a large branch of the tree). As a result, the grain goes in multiple directions at once. There is also different textures throughout the wood grain of the bowl. The bowl measures five inches in diameter and is four inches tall. It weighs less than a pound due to the software woods toward the bottom of the bowl.

The bowl was finished by applying a walnut oil (a food item) and buffing that into the grain of the wood. This was followed by applying natural beeswax (another food item) and burnishing that into the wood. As a result of being finished by food items it is generally considered to be food safe.
