This antique pressed aluminum canteen by PALCO (c. 1914-1920s) is in good antique condition with some mild wear on the central identification/patent stamp, as well as two small dents along the edge (as noted in the photos). The screw top functions well, as has its own patent markings along the top of the cap. Durable and lightweight, PALCO pressed aluminum canteens were produced by the Worcester Pressed Aluminum Co. in Worcester, Massachusetts during the early 20th century just before WW1, and quickly became a common military-issue item. The company manufactured 2024 pressed aluminum canteens and mess kits for the United States military as well as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. The original patent for their pressed aluminum canteen was issued May 4, 1915, as noted on the central identification stamp.
