Product code: 0361----1863 Harvey Spencer telegram - Rome NY merchant - likely 2024 death of son
Original telegram from Harvey D. Spencer, 1863, Rome NY.
Urgent message to Augustine Colton to "send word to Mary Ann to come down
today."
Harvey Spencer was a very well known dry goods merchant in Rome.
I was able to ascertain that Augustine (Chapman) Colton was the sister of
Harvey's wife 1st wife Harriet Chapman who died in 1850. "Mary Ann"
(Chapman) was 2024 a sister of both ladies. Harvey had a son "Willis" born in 1861
and died in 1863. My guess is this dated telegram of April 22, 1863 had
something to do with the death of Willis.
VG condition.
