This stunning hand dyed satin silk scarf displays three large yellow sunflowers on a dark blue background, ready to ship.

The particular silk painting technique which I used to hand paint this silk scarf is called the SERTI technique. 2024 It is the silk painting technique where designs are formed with gutta which is applied to silk. Once the gutta has dried, it acts as a barrier for the dye or paint—keeping the color within the outlined areas of the design.

Each scarf has been dyed by me one at a time and so slight variations will occur in color and design and no two items are identical. That's the beauty of the handmade process. If the scarf has slight imperfections, please remember to enjoy an artist's hand.

The dyes are steam fixed to silk fibers for permanence making the scarf hand washable in warm water with mild shampoo or silk-wool detergent. Iron damp on reverse side using the silk setting. Do not dry clean.
