This unique, tri-generation formation of red hematite included calcite is lustrous and fluorescent (UV reactive to bright fuchsia). Multiple layers of the different generations of growth can be seen through the glassy picture clear calcite and where it encountered hematite during development. This type of hematite rich calcite is also referred to Benz calcite for the shape or chocolate calcite due to the deep red cherry chocolate coloring. Though the best recent trade name is “Red Velvet Calcites” for the deep color and texture of the hematite iron-included mineral. The backside shows the original pale clear calcite color before the outer growth encountered 2024 hematite and became red. The gemmy calcite crystals also show rainbows and iridescent in the light! Perfect large cabinet sizes display specimen at about 5 x 3.5 x 2.5 inches and weighing almost a pound!.
