Raven Sterling Silver Lariat Necklace, 2024 Labradorite, Moonstone, Crow Bird

Two drops are featured in this Y necklace, with moonstone, pyrite and labradorite gemstones. The shortest drop with chunky 5/8 inch long loop, a tiny 3 mm faceted pyrite and Raven charm is 1 ¾ inches long. The longer chain drop with faceted 5 mm moonstone at the bottom and tiny 1.5 mm faceted labradorite at the top, is 2 ¾ inches long.

This is a beautifully rendered super-detailed raven charm – and very tiny! The arched window shape is ½ inches tall and 3/8 inches wide. Raven is sitting on a branch at night with stars surrounding him. It's a miniature shadow box effect, beautifully detailed and textured. Back is flat and polished.

Chain is a lovely elongated rolo, with each link about 3 mm. long. End of the extender features a 3 mm faceted moonstone. All metal is sterling silver, medium-dark oxidized and focal pieces polished and burnished for detail.

Symbolism: Today it is believed that the crow/raven symbolizes a new phase in a person's life – that one should leave the past behind as something new has been “born”. Time to use your second sight and think more thoroughly about your life. The bird has been seen as a symbol of life magic, and mysteries, intelligence, flexibility and destiny.

Gemstones: These moonstones are faceted semi-clear to milky white to pale yellow moonstone rondelles with irredescence. They contain an area of fire in part of the stone (the location will depend on how the piece lies and how the light catches). These stones vary a bit in shape, thickness, iridescence, presence or absence of fire, and clarity of stone.

These labradorites differ from the typical medium gray opaque gemstones you usually see in that these are a bit clearer, almost milky-clear, and not as inclusional (lots of inclusions or “material” throughout the gemstone) as is typical. These stones, even though very tiny (in the 2.5 mm size range) have tons of facets and also inherently have quite a bit of luminescence or multi-color areas of “fire”. Very high quality tiny labradorites!
