What is Steampunk?

This is such a cool steampunk book. The front is completely covered with both metal and plastic ornaments. The ornaments were covered in Gesso then covered in a moss 2024 green. Everything is then highlighted using metallic waxes of various shades. There are keys, jewellery bits and pieces, gears, clocks, keys, chains, flowers, buttons, safety pins, bottle caps, letters and so much more. Both the spine and back cover have been stencilled in branches and leaves. the whole outside of the book cover has been sealed with a spray shellac protector. The spine has been left exposed. The closure is made up of key ribbon that has been distressed. I've also included a black lace bookmark with lace crispers and gear dangles.

- This book is approximately 8.75” x 6”, a 1.5” spine, with a 3.5” alligator mouth.
Approximately 21.5cm x 15cm, a 4 cm spine, with 25.5cm alligator mouth.
- There are two (2) signatures sewn together using the 3 hole pamphlet stitch.
- There are 136 pages front and back.

All of the pages edges have been torn and distressed in a variety of green inks. Everything is hand made: tags, pockets, fabric flips, belly bands, note books, flip outs, etc... I've used vintage and newer fabrics as well as lace and ribbon. There is lots of machine sewing with gold coloured thread. Stamping and stencilling. Some thread ends are left on the journaling tags. I think it adds to the grunge look. Gears, clocks and charms dangle from the middle of the signatures.

There are just so many pockets, envelopes, flips, pull outs, hidden writing spaces that you could spends hours flipping through this book to see all it has to offer. If you find the book too thick, you can always remove the less favourable pages. Lots of space for writing, adding embellishments and photos of your own. This is definitely one of a kind, a true treasure book.
