From the days of hand-printed and hand painted wall paper - these antique hand-crafted wooden printing blocks can still be used today with superb, authentic effect, to print on fabric, paper, card, directly on to the wall - or any flat surface. Blocks such as these have been used by printers and designers for many, many years to produce individual and unique works of art for homes and businesses. We are selling the four together as a set, but we would split the set if there is one or two that are favourites. Together, they weigh nearly 1kg, so the postage included in the price doesn't come cheap. The craftsman made blocks are unique and each is a little work of art in its own right, ready to display. Made of a medium heavy brown wood that has, over the years, taken on the depth of colour from the paints and dyes used. A very tactile tool for designers, decorators and crafters alike. With the surge in interest of crafting of all types, these would make a unique and unbeatable gift for a crafty friend.
Unlike many on the market today, these are NOT Indian blocks, but were produced in the Central Region of France in the mid 1800's and show appreciation of endless variations, less cluttered design possibilities and can be seen to lean towards the Art Deco design movement.
Your item will be carefully packed using recycled wrappings where possible and despatched via the Irish An Post.
