This beautiful tote bag is constructed of silk brocade and fully lined with a coordinating fabric. There is a pocket with a button and loop closure on the outside front and three more elasticized pockets inside, plus several clips and rings to clip things onto... great for keeping small items organized. It is roomy and sturdy enough to carry your laptop or your library books, over 15" wide and almost as tall. The reinforced straps are long enough to use as a shoulder bag. This style is available in a lime green print with pink and gray accents and also in a lovely blue floral pattern.
Stefan creates limited custom collections of clothing and accessories, reclaiming leftover and discontinued fabrics he finds in his travels, and sells them through his Etsy shop and word of mouth. The exterior fabrics used in these bags are 100% silk which originally sold for $100 a yard, a buyout from a New York designer's studio at the end of a season. The lining fabrics came from a baby furniture manufacturer in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and are durable and wipe clean as you would expect from textiles used on strollers and car seats. The buttons are various materials: wood, metal, plastic, bone, shell or ceramic, and come from many sources. Some are gleaned from vintage coats, some are previous season's salesman's samples from notions companies. The vintage ribbons used on the straps 2024 were discovered in the warehouse of a narrow fabrics mill in a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania where they had languished forgotten for 50 years. The finished bags are beautifully crafted of these upcycled and reclaimed materials, each one a work of art. The sturdy construction– top stitching, bonded interfacing, and durable lining– means they will maintain their shape and usefulness for many years.
