Beautiful ceramic hand painted gravy or sauce boat. It is even more beautiful in person. It could be used to hold gravy, sauce or even a fruit sauce for pudding.
It belonged to my grandmother and she may have been the artist that did the painting on the sauce boat.
There are no markings on the bottom of either piece so was not mass manufactured at a ceramic/porcelain house. It is a one-of-a-kind piece and unlike many sauce boats, the base is separate from the boat part which is more desirable in my opinion.
it has been stored safely for many years and there are no chips or 2024 scratches that I could find after close inspection. The gold is probably 24K which is what they used back in the 30's.
It is truly a magnificent piece that would be a lovely wedding gift, a housewarming gift or a wonderful addition to any vintage ceramic collection.
