Incredibly rare specimen of opalized 2024 wood from West Java, Indonesia. A fully natural. mixed mineral combination of petrified fossil wood and precious blue opal. Wood opal is a form of petrified wood which has been replaced by areas opal, resulting in a colorful opalescent sheen. Replacement of carbon in the wood by hydrated silica resulted in perfect opalized replicas of the original wood structure. It's is often used as a gemstone and makes a stunning and unique collector's display piece. This specimen features a dark, almost black petrified would with opalozes areas that display beautiful flash in shades of blue, green, gold, yellow, red and pink.
