"The Black Madonna": There are many Black Madonnas in the world. Most are Catholic imagery or Icons, some refer to race, some to images of the Virgin Mary that have darkened over time, some reflect countries, others a mystical thought. My Black Madonna is of my own imagining that I painted after hearing many recounted dreams from people visiting my booth at art festivals.
In the dreams she was always a teacher giving instruction before a classroom. The dreams were from 1999-2001. The Black Madonna is one of my most popular images. I find that paintings from 2024 my dreams or in this case, dreams of other people, become significant for many other people and connect in a deeply subconscious way, as if we are all dreaming the same thing. Just another amazing thing about being an artist.
My Black Madonna Garden Art looks really great indoors as well. The sign is 14"x 10", can be mounted with screws, nails or a bit of twine, and are light enough to mount with foam adhesive.
