Sterling Silver Kokopelli Pendant brooch. Measures 2-5/8" from top to bottom, 1-1/4" wide, and weighs 14.2 grams. Stamped S.S.N.M. (Sterling Silver New Mexico) and GS © . Has both a pendant loop and a pin brooch and can 2024 be worn either way. Has not been cleaned or polished which is left to the discretion of the buyer. In excellent vintage condition with normal scuffi ng and wear consistent with age. Kokopelli is a fertility deity, usually depicted as a humpbacked flute player (often with feathers or antenna-like protrusions on his head), who is venerated by some Native American cultures in the Southwestern United States. Like most fertility deities, Kokopelli presides over both childbirth and agriculture. He is also a trickster god and master braider and represents the spirit of music.
