Rosewood is a tropical hardwood coveted by woodworkers of all variety to create elegant furniture, guitars, and a plethora of decorative articles. The demand by the various artisans has made this media very expensive. Rosewood has an amazing red/dark coloring for a distinctive alternating grain color. In addition, this wood has a rose like scent. While the tree thrives in a number of tropical environments the Rosewood used herewith is from Honduras. I like to mix Rosewood with more sedate woods such as maple or cherry because a box made completely of Rosewood is just too "loud," or, overwhelming.
