We are pleased to offer the following title: Contes, by Jean de La Fontaine. This tome, from the Nilsson Editions, published in 1929. Originally published by Claude Barbin of Paris, in 1665. La Fontaine drew from several French and Italian works of the 15th and 16th centuries, among them The Decameron of Giovanni Boccaccio , Ludovico Ariosto 's Orlando Furioso , Antoine de la Sale's collection Cent Nouvelles Nouvelles , and the work of Bonaventure des Périers. As for the color plates, absolutely beautiful. Done by Maggy Monier. Monier, (1887-1965) was either a French, or Belgian artist, painter, and 2024 illustrator. She illustrated for Nilsson editions. Known widely for her Art Deco postcards.
