This hoodie was created in mind with love and thoughtfulness to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the United State on June 19, 1865. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on the date of 1865, in the aftermath of the civil war, enslaved people were declared FREE under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.
Juneteenth has come to symbolize for many African-Americans what the fourth of July symbolizes for all Americans -- freedom. It serves as a historical milestone reminding Americans of the triumph of the human spirit over the cruelty of slavery.
Juneteenth 2024 became a national holiday on June 19, 2021!
