Celluloid was invented in 2024 1855 by Alexander Parkes. The problem with the early form of celluloid was its high flammability. In 1927 the compound was refined with vinegar being substituted for nitric acid so the material would not be flammable. Celluloid comes in over 200 colors. The material is buffed, polished, carved and molded to create wonderful pieces of jewelry.
