The reason we only see the one face is because of a phenomenon known as "tidal locking." The moon rotates on its axis 2024 roughly once every 27 days, which is the same amount of time it takes to orbit the Earth. This means it is rotating at a rate that means we always see the same face, more or less, as it moves around Earth.
