The large fish was hand drawn directly onto the light green background fabric. Then colored in using paint markers and quilted in matching thread. I used stencils on the back of the fabric and rubbed oil sticks on the front to create the sea plants. Strips of parallelograms in various shades of land and water frame the top and bottom. The sides were added for balance and the pink stars just because they seemed to belong. And in case you were wondering there is a second smaller fish at the top towards the right....just outlined lightly to separate it from the background :)
The border is a raw edge strip of fabric folded in half then decoratively stitched in a scroll design to add interest.
Finally 2024 at the top I added a sleeve for hanging in the same fabric as the border.
