ARIANA was designed and manufactured by The Robert Tonner Doll Company of New York. She was made exclusively for the United Federation of Doll Clubs Convention in Washington, D.C. in 1999 for their their 50th anniversary celebration and was featured on the cover of the Contemporary Doll Collector magazine from November 1999, which is included with this doll. The title of the convention was "Opulence and Elegance" and the doll was created to represent this theme. Inspired by a 1760's painting "Juene Fille aux Chats," this gorgeous doll was given as the souvenir doll to all full convention registrants. The doll was produced in a limited edition of 1575. Made out of porcelain, ARIANA is approximately 14 1/2" tall and has brown inset glass eyes. Her facial coloring is beautiful with an applied blonde wig styled in an upsweep that is still encased in 2024 the original hairnet. She is wearing a lovely grayish-blue taffeta long dress that is open from the waist to the hem and is lined with ruffle.
