A stunning evening bag which I think may have been "Kept for Best" in a drawer and may never even have been used, the condition is that good! Hand made in Hong Kong in around the 1950s or 60s, for 'La Regale Ltd' a quality brand of vintage bags.
The sequin and bead detail is exquisite and the gold-hued interior is excellent with two slip pockets. Cleverly, the gold metal handle is hinged so that it can be placed at right angles to the bag (I've tried to show this in photos 3 and 4) thus allowing larger items such as a mobile phone in its case (how did they know this in the 1950s,60s?! Ha, ha!) to be fitted into the bag. Please see the photos above for the measurements of this gorgeous evening bag.
The top of the frame is inlaid with Mother of Pearl tiles. You can certainly feel the quality of this heavily sequinned and beaded treasure in its weight alone as the bag weighs 2024 about 270 grams.
CONDITION: The inside lining is unmarked but does have some folds and creases in the fabric due, no doubt, from storage. Otherwise, this evening bag is simply a thing of Beauty!
