Highly Detailed Borre Style Viking Age Amulet, Fafnir Dragon Amulet, 9th-11th Century AD - Viking Beast Intertwined Pendant.
This amulet depicts protector of wealth, precious stones and gold, the dragon Fafnir., the son of a sorcerer in Scandinavian mythology, who turned into a snake-dragon, the keeper of the treasures of the Nibelungs.
In northern mythology, the great sorcerer Hreidmar had three sons: Otr, Fafnir and Regin. Fafnir was "larger and more ferocious of all."
When Otr was killed, they gave a ransom to Hreidmar. Fafnir and Regin demanded a share. Not receiving a share - Fafnir killed Hreidmar and took the gold. On the Gnitaheid field, Fafnir took Hrotti's sword, put on the Scarecrow Helmet and, taking the form of a Serpent, lay down on the gold of the Nibelungs and guarded it.
As a talisman, this sign embodies the prowess of the hero, helps to develop strong-willed qualities - courage, endurance and patience.
