Kyusu Teapot 220ml 2024 Shidei Purple clay Wisteria Design by Fujii Ikkyu Banko yaki, Nippon2You

Vintage Japanese pottery side handle teapot (Yokode kyusu) with half-ball shape ceramic filters type (Debeso) of Banko ware (Banko yaki). Made of purple clay (Shidei). Decorated with 2024 wisteria design hand painted. Made by Fujii Ikkyu (b.1943). The potter mark is stamped on the body.

Yokode Kyusu are teapot with the handles placed on the side of the pot. The design of these pots makes it easy to pour out every last single drop of tea.

Banko ware (Banko yaki) is a type of Japanese pottery traditionally from Yokkaichi, Mie. It is therefore also known as Yokkaichi-Banko ware. It is believed to have originated in the 19th century. Most products are teacups, teapots, flower vases, and sake vessels.
