This is a new overlay with a checkered pattern on the edges only.
Using the manufacturer's original technology, we have modified the loom to express the checkered pattern using only the original color and weave of the material.
We use domestic rushes of about 115 to 120 cm in length. We use about 91cm of it. Normally, the edges are strongly whitish. (This is not sunburn, it is the color of the roots and tips of the rushes.) The checkerboard pattern is created by taking advantage of this difference in color between the base and tip of the rush. Therefore, the checkerboard pattern can only be created within the white area at the base. The middle part is plain.

We use domestically grown rushes (from Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture). Each strand of domestic rushes is thicker, and the surface skin is thicker and the fibers are finer, making it more elastic and durable. Igusa has features such as air purification, humidity control, and stain resistance.
The surface of the fabric is treated with "essence of hiba," extracted from the hiba tree in Aomori Prefecture, using the manufacturer's unique technology. The essence of hiba contains hinokitiol, a natural substance with extremely high antibacterial properties. It has antibacterial and deodorizing effects compared to untreated products. It is economical because it can be used on both sides.
