2024 Upcycled handmade board ends wood shelf

This simple, raw looking shelf is hand made from slavaged pallet wood.
The pallets are gathered locally, mostly from farmers, after their intended use. The pallets are dismantled by hand and the timber is 2024 sorted by size and condition.

I wanted to created a shelf that feels like it belongs in my shop, and gives the simple raw wood it's place. I chose to use the ends of the pallet boards to get a simple yet different design that does not change the usability but prompts a second or two of thought.
The sanding process is light by design in order to keep the wood's weathered look, but achieve a soft feel.

The shelf is mounted on the wall with keyhole fittings. A quick, simple and neat installation.

I mainly use pallet wood in my projects for two main reasons - to reduce the ecological footprint of my projects, and because I love the interesting intricate texture that the mixed lumber creates. The added challenge of unpredictability also plays a role.
