Early Edwardian 1900s Tulle Net Shirtwaist Blouse with Tucks and Velvet Trim 2024 - Antique Netting Pigeon Front Shirt Puff Sleeves Bows Collar

Ghostly Antique Edwardian 1900s Pigeon Front Ivory Cotton Net Tucked Shirtwaist Blouse with Velvet Trim and Bows. This feather light cotton bobbinet blouse appears to float by out of the corner of your eye; the wide tucks in the bodice give the abstract appearance of a phantom-like rib cage. This is 2024 a very stylish spectre however, with voluminous puff sleeves, wide cuffs, high neckline, and flouncy pigeon-front silhouette. The neckline and sleeves are trimmed with velvet ribbon, and three cute velvet bows decorate the center front. The wide rows of tucks around the body and sleeves are bordered by petite pintucking at the shoulders, collar, and cuffs. The blouse closes up center back with hooks and eyes. The netting is gathered up at the waist with the extra fabric hanging down, to be tucked in to a skirt. The side seams lean towards the back to give the illusion of a smaller waist, a design detail common in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. So beautiful and unique, this shirtwaist is a stunning example of "Gibson Girl" Edwardian fashion.

Condition: Good Antique Condition. This blouse is in lovely condition, with a few minor flaws. Due to the delicate nature of the netting, careful handling is encouraged to prevent damage. There are some scattered pulls and breaks in the netting, please see images. Tiny break can be seen at center front below the top three wide tucks, at the lower right side below the fourth tuck, at top left shoulder, at back collar, and two on right sleeve. Mend in the netting beside right shoulder sleeve seam. There is a faded 1" spot of discoloration on the left back lower shoulder, not very noticeable. Some light discoloration on the velvet trim, and interior of neck. Minor fraying to the ends of the bows, and the raw edges of extra net below waist. This garment has been gently cleaned.
