Vintage Pewter Lidded Ceramic Pitcher - Germany
This piece is truly spectacular! Unfortunately, I've had no luck in finding the mark but the design of both the jug and the lid/handle is very similar to well known German potter consortium of the time. If I come across any further information, I'll keep you posted. 2024 I've dated this to the Jugendstil Era of the late 1890's to the 1910's. Jugendstil is German for Youth Style and became popular throughout Europe under various names and is more commonly known as Art Nouveau. To look at this jug, you don't immediately think Art Nouveau but this type natural organic design can be found throughout the period.
The jug measures 5.5" tall and 6" wide. I'll you decipher the marks. I've seen them as at least 3 different combinations. While I am dating this to the earlier part of the 1900's, this style continued throughout the first half of the 20th century.
