The underside of the six slot toast rack reads: W H & S + BP + MP over A, the 1849 Maker's Marks of William Hutton, Sheffield, England; the BP stands for Britannia Plate. And also the words “Warranted Hand Soldered”. Lovely Britannia Plate toast rack features six slots and is in lovely condition for its age, slight angle to shape of end slot, looks original. Attractive piece, from a well–known Sheffield, England maker. Lightly cleaned, only on the underside, to access the maker's marks for pics. This beautiful Victorian antique has patina and wear due to age.
