HISTORY
The unique piece of hand embroidery that we used in this runner comes from traditional embroidery from Central Asia, of a wall carpet. Originally the size of the embroidered carpet was 3-4 by 1.5 meters and was an essential item of a brides dowry.
When a girl was born, her mother would start to embroider the wall carpet soon after birth. When the girl reached a certain age, she would continue the work started by her mother. These large carpets took years to embroider. When you are looking at the embroidered part, you can imagine those hundreds of quiet evening of diligent work in candle's light. Each embroidered piece became one of a it's kind.
The tradition had stopped a while ago and because these antique carpets do not suit modern houses, people tend to get rid of them since there is no use for them. We find these carpets amazing and the amount of work that was put into them is astonishing. We don't want these to simply be put aside because they don't fit nowadays styles. So we are trying to make things out of this embroidery, so that this beauty would still be appreciated, used and shared worldwide.
