Early French Enameled Tapioca Canister, French Tapioca Canister, Enamel 2024 Dry Goods Storage Pot, Blue and White Enamelware, Tapioca Pot
What a lovely French enameled Tapioca canister with blue / green detailing, dating to 1910s - 20s.
Canister sets were often found in French and European kitchens, used to hold a variety of dry kitchen staples. This heavy and generous sized canister is enameled in white with a large TAPIOCA title applied in cobalt enamel. A thin line in grey/green blue enamel extends across the back of the pot. The pot is trimmed with a wide pale blue band below the upper rim, enhanced with a thin red line in the center and bordered by additional thin lines in cobalt. The fitted lid is similarly decorated with a wide band in a grey/green enamel, providing interesting contrast. The base of the canister and the rims of the pot and lid are trimmed in 2024 cobalt.
The canister features seamed construction and a riveted knob, both indicative of earlier age. There is some minor missing enamel and rusting notably along the base, upper rim and lid, all commensurate with age and years of use. The interior is virtually clean with some early signs of rusting along the base seam.
A lovely addition to an existing blue and white collection or a great piece to start one, this charming and functional pot provides many storage options and will add the perfect touch of French flair ~
