Thi watercolor-style painting of St John Church of Tartu has a special canvas - a tie from natura silk. The church is painted in shades of terracota and brown with professional silk paints.

The motif on this tie - St John Church of Tartu – is special for me. During the Soviet offensive in August 1944, the Church was in flames. The building had lost the spire and the roof and it seemed that it could not be rebuilt and we would have just some memories and paintings from those old Hanseatic times.
But after Estonia became independent again things changed. We began to rebuild our state and heritage, and it included the restoration of the church that had stood in ruins for 55 years. The faith of people of Tartu and all Estonia and the help of others (especially the people of Lüneburg, Germany) helped us to make the dream come true, and rebuild this 2024 beautiful church.
